Aldi & Lidl in the UK are selling airfix starter kits for £7.00, it comes with glue, paints and a brush which would make a good stocking filler, I bought two and put the sherman firefly 1/72 into the kids charity box.
Wonder if the stores here will stock them as well?
My local hasn’t had them yet. They had some ships and cars. Usual stuff really, Titanic, Victory and Mayflower. Didn’t really notice what cars other than the E-Type Jag and some Porsche.
Are these all '60’s and '70’s Airfix releases?

I thought that as well but apparently they are new and we’re released back in 2010, so they’re not the old 80’s kits.
All new tools. The only oldie is the DUKW that sometimes makes an appearance.
We picked one of the DUKW’s up from our local Lidl back in the summer after we got home from visiting Arromanches. My son’s imagination was fired by having stood where some quite famous photos were taken of them driving up from the beach.
Nice! Another modeller in the making!
The Airfix DUKW’s not a bad kit. A bit clunky and showing it’s age, but it goes together easily and no fiddly delicate bits. A good one to get started with.
that is excellent news that your son has shown an interest in this, a credit to your parenting skills well done indeed.
Very kind of you. He’s already built a few kits. Helps get him off YouTube!!
