I had this title arrive today from Osprey Publishing for me to read and review.

This found its way to me from China.
If anyone here also checks the armour postman thread they will possibly know I’m building 1/72 air defence systems all nations and time periods but not everything as well there are way to many so concentrating on the main ones.

Two 20mm on a section of deck “USS Missouri”
Oh yes I should say the gun breach is all PE parts with a brass barrel!

Today I received one of the kits I consider my Holly Grails… The other is a Baltimore cruiser.

The Montana and the USS Helena are what got me into modelling in the first place.

That Montana is also on my “ultimate” list. Just trying to justify the spending part!

My old Heavily used top loading airbrush gave up, having taken it apart, it is wear to a couple parts in the trigger mechanism. making control unreliable and it difficult to get the needle out to clean it.

I was in my local hobby shop this morning, I knew some of the regular Saturday crowd used one of these and spoke highly of it’s versitility, bit of a pain to clean.

I have tried it out, very nice to spray with. Cleaned up Ok.

I also have the Yankee Modelworks resin kit, which I plan to do with a postwar fit, having the Bofors replaced with 3" twins, twin 20mm mounts and late war radar suite and range finder setup. I went for the Very Fire kit so as to have a hull prototype to work on the resin hull which is void of detail.

I like the idea! I want to “modernize” one. The return of the battleship. Complete with helo deck, Aegis Weapons system, Harpoons, Tomahawks, etc.

This was delivered today. The Airfix 1/72 Shannon Class Lifeboat

.

The sprues.

The cabin interior is a little basic, but little will be visible. The rest of it is very nice indeed. The boxing is a starter kit designed for new modellers, the instructions are very clear, the design should make it very straight forward to build. the reviews I have seen are very complimentary. looking at the sprues it is screaming … “BUILD ME”

Cheers, Si

Hoping Subs are okay here -

Picked this one up cheap on Mercari - some deals there plus I had a $10 coupon. I find subs a nice pallet cleanser/quick build some times
