Lucky Models

I have been a user of Lucky Model for years. Since May of this year, I cancelled two orders after waiting an unusually long period of time for them to be filled. While you can cancel an order, they only allow you to redirect your funds not to receive a refund. So, my July order is still not here. Is anyone experiencing this same type of delay?

Yes DJ I had the same experience. I preordered something last year at what I thought was a great price and I also enquired about the shipping cost but can’t recall the answer now, and when it finally came in stock the shipping cost was exorbitant. So I cancelled the order. I could only get a store credit to use at Lucky model. So eventually I used it on a set of AM tracks and it worked out, but I wasn’t happy.

Yes, twice. The first time they accused me of trying to scam them. When I commented on it here in this forum they said it was a computer issue that they fixed, they did not address the accusations. So I tried again and they pulled the exact same stunt and again blamed it on me. I use Hobbyterra and Hobbyeasy as they are honest. You can check their reviews. I do not use Lucky Model because of their stock issues and because of this issue.

What a bummer! They got me and my money. The three items have been “in progress” for six plus weeks. They respond, but do not address my concerns…forget them
Thanks for your response

I had success in the past, although there was one with a long delay, but I put in an order not long ago due to a great price on an item but it’s yet another of their “PROCUREMENT/PROCESSING IN PROGRESS, WAITING REPLY.” deals.

The kit is available at many vendors currently (at the non-sale price) so why can’t they get more?

Depending on the outcome this will most likely be my last visit to their site. The long wait with no end in sight is not worth the savings.

Good to know…I’m taking them off my folder of favorites.

I ordered from Lucky Model twice. The second time proved very flustrating, due to them showing inventory in stock that wasn’t available.

Lucky Model isn’t worth the hassle in my experience.

Well, I just sent a message stating send my kit or my refund.

Ball is in their court, but I don’t think anyone will be feeling lucky after I hear back.

These Bozos and their shenanigans go way back as far as 2015 (see old forum posts).

I have ordered from them several times, and like other, I too have noticed the longer shipping delays. Last order ended up breaking the camel’s back by showing what I ordered to be in stock (every item) and then waiting over 8 months just to receive an email saying “good news, your order has been shipped.”

So, I had to wait other month or two before I finally received what I had ordered the year before. They use to be great in product variety and services but I will no longer use them and play the their game.

Good luck to you and I hope you do find something worth your wait.

can’t you claim your money back through your credit card, you can here in the UK?

That is the solution! I used Paypal they are great when it comes to refunds.

Yeah, Luckymodel has gone down the toilet. I think the owner is not focusing on the retail business anymore but just his Kinetic manufacturing business.
Even getting stuff from hobbyeasy is no longer worth it because of the super high postage nowadays.

I will share a bit of sunshine with you…I paid by PayPal. When the items were not even shipped in a timely matter, I explained the situation to PayPal and received a total refund. If you used this payment process or your CC ask for refund from them. Lucky Models (which I will never use again) only allows you store credit.

Reports like these are what keep me timid about venturing out to trade with unfamiliar suppliers, I’ve been dealing with Sprue Bros. since 2006 (Great Model Webstore), before that, the venerable Squadron Shop was my dream factory since the early 80’s, Scale Hobbyist has proven very reliable in recent years, none of these retailers is new news, I’m sure everyone here is satisfied with them, when I ordered some “I gotta have 'em Items” from Wanamaker I was leery of the transaction but it turned out painless. Even Ebay gives me pause but I haven’t had a bad experience with them so far. So thanks for the heads up about Lucky Models, I’ve been tempted in the past but now I’m grateful for my reluctance.
