I removed the hatch to put it back in the right place. Maybe I’ll leave it open.

A few bits before i close her up, im not going to see these but i know its there
Also finished off the weapons, added a few bits to the 50 cal
Then started on the tracks using my home made jig, useful for keeping an eye on the number of links for each bit

If you can try and make the collar for the TC hatch thinner. The hatch is very close to the top deck.

Tracks are done. Not too bad apart from a dimple in every single rubber pad, but nothing some Vallejo plastic putty cant solve

These holes are a real pain in the 455!
I filled in only the ones that will be clearly visible with more care. I reduced the depth of the rest and am going to disguise them with mud, lol

that headlight guard is an original M113 version for the A0 Petrol driven carriers the right headlight guard is and A1 and later one. although still odd as it has been upgraded again to A2 standard by the looks of some other parts like the top engine deck covers, heater exhaust and intake plus armoured cover over radiator access
they are welded strait onto the hull and thinner all around
A1 and later guards have a plate welded onto hull and the guard is bolted to that and are wider at the base. having them like this meant they could be replaced easier if damaged

another note on early M113’s is if doing anything based earlier than late 1976 the only track you should be looking at is the T130 track as it was late 76 early 77 that T130E1 track was made available (so anything in Vietnam had T130 track) have seen lots of people doing the 1/16th Andys carrier and they are doing as an ACAV and buying 3D printed tracks but getting the wrong ones. there is even one place selling track that is T130 links with T130E1 pads which is impossible to do as the pads and steelwork have a different profile - (you can put T130 pads onto an E1 steel link though as i have personally done it) and you can not mix the 2 types of links either as the steel work will not go together.

T130E1 links with T130 pads as that was all we could buy at the time we did a track and pad change
was a lot of fun getting the old pads off and we had to even gas cut some of the bolts. we knew we would be taking this carrier in public parades so needed to have good pads to protect the road.
some of the bushings had the rubber completely gone and inner pads missing also
was lucky we had a tractor to drag the track sections around
there was also a slightly different profile of steelwork that it looks like was mostly used by Australia that still had the small recessed pockets at the trailing edge of the sprocket hole but the leading edge still had the thicker bushing holders (if you look at the comparison pictures below you will see the older track has thinner walls where the bushings are fitted)

Weird camo pattern again lol. This is the pre shading for the olive drab
Then the olive drab, lacquer paint from SMS here in Aus
Its a very subtle pre shading. Leaving the OD to dry then spraying another lighter green over the top
