M113: Jack Of All Trades

Fifteen meters offhand, open sights, one inch group. Not bad for not shooting rifle before except a few times. (In every case she did a center head shot offhand at 25 m with my AR and said “That’s it, I’m done.”)

Great! That’s better than I’m doing at the moment.

Hhmmm… that is not a bad idea. Maybe install a fake ceiling when the wife is out….:sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

Actually I have a hall closet the is so tall the upper three feet are virutally unusable. I am going to add a fake ceiing to it, and cut an access panel in the wall. I can either cover it with some artwork or a feaux cabinet door. Same with the bathroom closet. No need to hide them, but it would give me more room for guns and ammo…

The odds of me being a Drill Sergeant again are pretty slim, but I can’t bear the thought of getting rid of those Jump Boots. (I’ve actually got a third pair) If I do wear jump boots again they’ll be brown,

I know the feeling. I used to do WW2 Living History and my impression was that of a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne. I was working on putting together a Vietnam War era impression, but i moved to Arizona from Florida (for work purposes); so my Reenactor days are over; however, i still have tons of gear and weapons that I used in my impressions.

In my stash are a pair of Corcoran WW2 paratrooper Boots in brown; long with a pair of OD green jungle boots; along with assorted uniforms, web gear and field gear. I may pick it back up if I find a unit in Texas that will take me, but that will depend on how old i get when the opportunity arises. I ain’t no spring chicken anymore and playing dress-up seems to have lost its sheen.

We’ll see…

I’ve got the T-10 parachute with modern reserve, and an M1942 Paratrooper Uniform. A friend of mine actually stripped some black jump boots and made them brown. It didn’t look bad at all. I think I’ll just buy some. The gun shop down the road from me has a Thompson.
There’s a group that jumps from the C-47 my girls and I flew in a few years ago. I may join up.

I think I know which group is that. Round Canopy Parachuting Team (RCPT).

AHHQ’s M113 isnt scheduled to hit Europe till mid January, have to say I’m disappointed somewhat as its already on sale in other parts of the globe and I probably could have had one shipped here from there before I get my sweaty mits on the preorder from AHHQ Eu.

No consolation but I got the accessories from Jason studios today along with a few spare jerrycans and crew and infantry helmets and the detail and thought gone into these is incrediblle.

I have three, one completed, one half done( Vulcan version) and another shouting that wants to be started, much less done. Waiting for my 1/16 from Andys Hobby Headquarters, and have several references for a truly super detailed project! So looking forward to getting it!

I got Andy’s M113 in the mail monday…

It is a beautiful kit, along with an excellent painting and marking guide.

I was surprised to find the 2 M60 machine guns are not slide molded…the barrels need drilled out.

I have seen Jason’s and AFV Modeler add ons and figures…, but they are $$$.
I think I may wait to see what aftermarket items and figures are released by other companies…especially the floor mod with dirt filled ammo cans and wood pallets.

im thinking something to do with LAM SON 719

Lam Son 719, as far as I remember, it was the first battle where the ARVN would take a leading role, without American involvement. The US hoped that Lam Son 719 would prove that the ARVN would be able to hold their own under the Nixon Administration’s “Vietnamization” policy. it backfired completely.

yeah i seem to recall they crossed into Laos and they got ambushed by the NVA and they only made it out through American air power.

Correct. They were trying to destroy the supply routes from Cambodia into South Vietnam. But the PAVN was better prepared and was able to repel the ARVN; it took the USAF and USMC to provide superior airpower.

Here is my entry.

I was surprised at all of the additional parts that come in the kit. I get ACAV parts and shields and even a recoilless rifle. :grinning: Did they make a Zeldacav?
