M1A2 SEP V3 Abrams

@HeavyArty guys sorry for my delay in answering, today I have made very little progress, I’m waiting for this week the guys from mig jimenez to answer me about the sprue XA and give me a solution, I’m looking now with a magnifying glass to go forward in the upper parts of the turret.

After his observations, he decided to paint the screen with clear purple, so as not to have everything red, and I like the result

Well, guys yesterday I made several elements of the turret, but until I get the parts (I hope this week they tell me something) I’ve been assembling the basket, a question with the basket I’m a little confused, it has to be aligned with the bars of the first basket or has to be slightly to one side? I pass you the photos

I think it is slightly off to one side

Thank you very much, yes they are correct in the photos obviously, and the instructions match, it doesn’t have to be in the center, I just assembled it and everything is fine

Well guys, today I got the ATOM paints and its thinner, we will see how they behave, definitely to the AK third generation I gave them the final goodbye, also two chiping products but rest assured that this v3 is safe from my chipping hehehe

I just tried the ATOM paints, they are not bad, but I have to get the hang of it, but my first impressions are that they are better than the AK third generation.

well guys, today I have made a pause in the assembly of the abrams, some friends have come from far away to visit me and it was not a good time for modeling, finally ammomig jimenez is going to send me the missing sprue XA, and yesterday I got this machine from the other side, I hope not to dirty my own thread, I just wanted to share it with you all.

well guys, today I have already painted the lower part with the ATOM carc tan, I must say that the paints are excellent, and today I have already received the missing sprue, and I can continue calmly the assembly of the turret, and on the drive wheel I have done some chipping (calmly do not panic) of the wear of the rolling.

Hi guys, today I have already advanced completely with the turret, just one doubt, in the instructions it tells you that this piece goes more to the right but really as it is located? attached to the railings to the left or more to the right?

Your drive sprockets look awesome Mel, I’m assuming the Atom paints are Acrylic?
I only use AK Lacquer or Model Master enamels, I do have a couple of Migs’ acrylics but use them very seldom. I haven’t had the opportunity to build an M1 yet, but I have to say it’s an impressive tank, the turret is massive, seeing it rotated to either side shows how intimidating it is. Nice work on your kit so far, we’re all watching

The exhaust deflector and combat ID panel are just hung on the rails so their exact location can vary.

thank you very much :raised_hands:, I just primed the turret with mr surface 1000, if they are the ATOM paints, they are acrylic paints and I must say that they are much better (for me) than the AK third generation, as for the vallejo acrylic paints I liked them a lot, they even surprised me for good, and I also use the reliable bet that are tamiya acrylic, Mr color (lacquer) and mr hobby (acrylic) what happens that these do not have the CARC TAN

thank you very much, that’s good to know, I just mounted almost everything already, and primed it with mr surface 1000.

today my abrams is sad

after finishing priming with mr surface 1000 in airbrush, now the turret looks like the typical rendering of the manufacturers when they announce a new product.

today touches the assembly of the trophy system, to all this someone has photos of the V3 mounting this system? in the instructions does not tell you what color goes each part and in the paint scheme does not appear this system, I would appreciate it very much.

No photos but diagrams.

it’s been discussed elsewhere that there’s a bit missing from what the kit provides, mounting frames, conduits, and, the “ESU enclosures” .

Trophy has not actually been seen on any operational M1A2 SEP v3s yet. On the M1A2 Sep v2s that they were tested on, they were overall green.

They will probably be overall green and/or overall sand. Trophy is like TUSK in that it is not normally mounted and only in combat situations where needed. It depends on the threat and the combat environment.

@HeavyArty thanks guys, pity because I like it aesthetically, I will paint the system in green or tan, but I will leave it aside, I don’t know whether to mount it or not… damm, today I have already advanced with all the lower part of the tracks.

You can still mount is as it is intended to go on them and, potentially, if/when they go into combat, will be added. So, it would not be totally wrong to add it.
