Slick meaning clean or uncluttered (no extra A whatever) also carried over in many ways. One of which was parachuting. In order to pass Special Operations Jumpmaster School, we had to JMPI three jumpers within five minutes - two with combat equipment, and one slick - or with nothing but his main and reserve.

“slick” in this case doesn’t refer to the tank, but the nomenclature. M60 with any suffix (A1, A2, A3). 18Bravo gave a good definition. Slick when referring to a Huey referred to the actual helo. It meant without extra guns or rockets.
You’re right. Huey is another great example. When we did urbans ops training we also “went slick” during walk throughs - similar to the paratrooper example - no body armor or web gear. Another example is “slick sleeve,” meaning a soldier who had not yet seen combat.
