M929 Dump Truck

Hello.

Started my M923 / M51 conversion into an M929.

Interesting detail, parts 4 and 5 from afv club are the same (there are the tail lights installed), part 5 indicates a newer variant. I have installed part 5.
I am currently in the process of shortening the ILK M923 frame and converting the fuel tanks.
I am also in the process of adjusting the rims because I am using the wheel set from MR Modellbau.

Nice. I have the same plans. The fuel tanks are the same on them. You can just use the AFV Club fuel tanks.

Are you shure? I will compare the fuel tanks, I think the edges, shape on the M929 are a bit rounder. I’ll see.

They look the same to me. The M929 has a work platform over them though.

Maybe you’re right. I’ll take a closer look and compare the kit parts with photos. I’ll then upload pictures of the parts.

Btw, a very nice kit from afv club.

I looked at everything and came to the conclusion that the shape is the same. However, I think that the fuel tank on the M929 is larger than on the M51. Maybe I’m wrong. If anyone has the exact dimensions, I would be happy to have them.

The middle one is a resin part, which is a left over from a M931 I think.
The last one is from the M923 ILK.

It could be possible that the tank from afv club looks too small.

Based on the length of the frame and the distance between the tanks and tires, I think they are the same. I’m just going to use the AFV Club tanks on mine.

Small update which leads to a stop.
Unfortunately, I didn’t notice during my research that the protective shield of the cabin on the dumper on the M51 is shorter than that of the M929.
Now I have to think about what to do next. Ideas are very welcome!

You can see it very clearly in Gino’s second to last post.

Hmm, interesting. Maybe add a piece to the bottom of the shield where it connects to the bed and raise it up a bit. The other option is to cut the top off the cab and go topless.

It’s an option, but with exhaust pipe installed It’s still to short.

Another idea is to build a gun truck but I probably won’t.

I think I’ll enlarge the shield with plastic sheet.

Would be very nice, if someone can provide me some measurements.

Would this help ?

Another version.

Also an M51A2 dump truck for comparison.

M929 is 120.8"
M51 is 111.5"

M929 is 10.3 inches taller, or 7.5 mm in 1/35.

Maybe a combination raise the shield a tad and raise the entire dump bed off the frame a tad? This way no one area is too out of wack

Thank you so much Gino!
This is exactly what I was looking for.

That actually sounds like a good idea. I will remember that if I have any problems with a truck build, as I have several in my stash.

FYI ILK M923 fuel tank measures 32 mm.

First update, I raised the dump shield by 6.8mm.
@HeavyArty you counting 1" too much.

I made a dry fit and checked the measurements with the help of the drawing. @HeavyArty, thank’s again Sir! The measurements of the frame and the dumper, dumper to the frame are all okay. As you can see, the cab roof is pretty close to the dumper shield. I came to the conclusion, that the ILK cab is too high. know I can adjust the cab or I’m fine with it.

As long as everything is sitting down on the frame it looks like you should be good to go!

I was starting to wonder the same. I played around with adding the CMK M923 engine set to the ILK M923 and it is about 1/8" too short from top to bottom as well.
