Those tanks are looking great.
Good tip on making bolts/rivets with foil @Mead93 . I’ll make a note of that in case I ever need to make some.
The paint pens arrived today, so a had a little experiment with them in making the mottle. I based the colours on the profile in Ospreys Vietnamese Mig-21 book. So I had a base of IDF pale green already prepared and used AK’s Japanese Midouri green pen. Looks quite nice and it dried nice and flat. Had much more control than I did with the brushed mottle on my recent Mig-17. I think I’ll go with this method when it comes to the final painting.
Thanks, this was just a quick test to see how they looked. I think they work well together. The final piece will be a bit more neater.
Have to confess I was a little skeptical about these pens, but it covered well, smooth and no brush marks. I picked up a black and tyre rubber pens too. Should make painting those a lot quicker and easier!
I’ve completed Hobbyboss(aka Trumpeter) 1/35 T-26 Obr.1935
I skipped the weathering and chipping. Because I’ve lost interest in this kit. Hehe.
Pros. Just a decent model kit for building. It has fewer parts, so it should be easy to make.
Cons. There is no vision block for driver’s hatch. So I tried to make it one. But I messed it up lol. And some part has lack of details.
Fenders are dry fit, but I glued the front glacis (wings?) to the fenders. This was done for 2 reasons. Painting the complex suspension with the fenders and front pieces fixed would be challenging, and 2 the fenders and front pieces were a bit of sloppy fit. Glueing them together at the same time helped get them fixed with the right angle. Once the lower hull is base coated I will add the fenders
After reviewing my build, I decided that the base color was too light and too yellow/brown. So I stripped it, and repainted. I also added the fenders.
If I built this kit again I would have installed the fenders first, then the front parts on the nose that attach to the fenders. I had to remove one as I misaligned the fender on the wing piece leaving a gap between the fender and hull side.
Anyways, happy with the base coat. Up next will be pair shading!
Started post shading the BT-7. Lightened the base coat thinned it a lot and then added some future. Got the turret and wheels done, working on the hull now. Pretty happy with how the turret went
