Modelling armour in Ukraine crisis

Not mention the trees. It looks a bit too green and leafy for this time of year. Plants are just starting to bloom now. Now May, sure…

Every war in the last century had it´s iconic weapon:

  • WW1 Mark IV tank
  • WW2 Tiger and Sherman
  • Korea F-86 Sabre
  • Vietnam M113
  • Gulf War Patriot Missile and M1 Abrams
    And nowadays?
  • John Deere tractor?

A job for a co-operation betwwen ICM (turret) and Trumpeter (hull)?

Our speciality was running over mines. I think we have lost around 8-10 wagons with 3 fatalities from those. Then we lost a lot of people working as Brigade Reconnaissance Forces.

Do you guys do any sort of remembrance for the wagon that hit the mine in Bos ? we visited it a few times with Herman the German mine hunter.

TV news just said that Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft can provide 100 Leopard 1A4(!) on short order, also M113G mortar carrier. I wonder how a Leopard 1A4 stands against a T-72? At least I have a Italeri Leo 1 A4 on stash, just in case?

I think it could easily hold its own with well trained crews… Hasty trained crews on unfamiliar systems could have issues…

@Johnnych01 i suspect that a number have been receiving secret training in the west during the last few weeks, it doesn’t make sense to send them kit they simply don’t know how to operate.
of course this will have been done on the quiet and away from the media and prying eyes.

Leopard 1A4 aka the Panzer IV H of the Cold War?

I agree the Leo give an excellent account of itself with a well trained crew. I doubt the Leo 1 would have much durability if hit. Even in the 1990’s it was viewed as vulnerable to moderately powerful anti-tank weapon.

Pretty much like a Pz IV H in 1945.

Quite possibly. The problem will always be user knowledge and knowing the wagon flaws and the things that time allows the crew to adjust to … I wish them all well though.

I get a kick out of seeing the white arrow pointing forward on those things.
Reminds me of “In the Army Now” with Pauly Shore.
