Modelling armour in Ukraine crisis

No it’s a Ukrainian BTR-3DA which is based on the BTR-80. It is probably in the hands of the pro-Russian troops from Donbas judging by the ‘Z’ but you can see the digital paint scheme on it which is what the Ukrainian Forces use.

Actually if @Klaus-Adler you were referring to this picture.

Then yes I think it is a BTR-60.

I thought you might have meant this.

Which is the BTR-3DA.

Maybe they’re running out of BTR-70’s and BTR-80’s…

The differences are in the type of 30mm main gun fitted, and in their night vision systems, with the 80A having the older active IR spotlights. Also there are internal differences between the types as well.

The basic BTR-80 had the 14.5mm heavy machine gun, same as the preceding BTR-60 PB, and BTR-70. The BTR-80A added a new turret with the same 30mm gun as is used on the BMP-2.

Looks like the BTR-60 above is a specialized variant :

Yes officer. I was only parked for a few minutes. Went into the store to steal some vodka. When I came out… THIS!

I’m building trumpeters T-64BV mod. 1985 at the moment and I’d say it is pretty nice kit. Some impressive moldings for the hull tub and turret shell and it is generally well detailed with good fit. A decent amount of PE is also included.

Some tweaks are needed for the l&l tracks and the ERA on the front plate but nothing major. I added trumpeters individual track links which I think is good upgrade on the kit tracks but that’s the only AM I plan to add.

can you post some pictures as i have that one is my stash/waiting list to be built

Yes I goofed on that one  :+1:!

To me, the guy in the upper left looks a lot like the guy on top of the burnt Tigr, which is perfect, as that’s exactly the scene I wanted to do.

Getting closer every day…

How is the part?

As with all of Live Resin’s stuff - very crisply molded.

Hello David,
a little identification aid for BTR-80.

  • BTR-80 basic version with 14,5 mm trapezoid turret.
  • BTR-80 A or BTR-82 modified variant with 30mm Shturm turret.
  • BTR-3 Ukrainian version of the BTR-80A. Basic BTR-80 hull with 30 mm turret by Ukraine with
    raised hull roof.
  • BTR-4 genuine Ukrainian version with 30mm turret. The hull of the BTR-4 is new constructed and is
more like a TPZ.1 Fuchs hull.
