They are not crap
I demonstrate this when I teach M4. Grasp the front of the mag well with your support hand. Now make a small movement while someone observes the muzzle movement. It’s going to be magnified.
Now punch out and try a C clamp grip with your arm locked. Make a small movement. Movement at the muzzle is far less. It’s simple math.
You don’t have to use a C clamp, but the farther out you grasp the handguard the less your movements will be magnified. Obviously this means vertical movement as well.
I recommend that even with body armor the buttstock should be fully extended. A lot of first timers trying this don’t believe it but it works. You do not have to have NTCH, (that’s basic rifle marksmanship, and it is exactly that) just a consistent placement every time.

It’s great advertising for Fendt and John Deere lol

Whats wrong with that ? I hold my civilian M4 at the mag insert aswell. Never had any problems.
Robert, probably fired more rounds in training & combat than all of us combined, explains it well above.
And he didnt even bother to mention that area gets a “tad bit warm”.
If you a good shot like that you probably be a better shot stretching out your arm.
But its a free country, you hold your weapon however you like…
How many times did you have to tell him to get that chicken wing down? ![]()
