Ukrainians are using the BTR-70.
There are probably some Ukrainian ones still around…

It works great to use your lesser forces to wear down your opponent before sending your best. However, we wore down Sadams lesser forces and met his best forces head on with better equipped and prepared forces. As you said, that strategy didn’t help.
was thinking over the weekend that the one guy that’s gonna get rich over there is the metal scrap yard!
There’s enough iron laying around to manufacture all the steel beams they’ll need for rebuilding! If the Ukraine is smart they gather up all the gas turbines they find in pieces to see what they are now using for future use. (not that Russian metallurgy is anything to brag about).
Be nice to see two or three groups like John Deer, Case IH, and maybe Catapillar donate some large all wheel drive tractors to those farmers. This time of the year we see them for sale all over the place, and are capable of pulling a 24 row disc set (BIG and WIDE). A million dollars cash would get a lot of equipment.
Another thing as this latest adventure is still ramping up. I see where E. Lilley just donated $24 million to the city of Indianapolis. Perhaps $10 million in medical aid would have been better. The children alone will suffer greatly (not that foolish old men gave a damned). War is one thing, but I simply can’t stand to see a child suffer. Add to the previous, Johnson & Johnson, Phizer, and some others could draw into their petty cash and make a real difference.
Gentlemen; lets all pray for PEACE!

I have a couple Trumpeter BMP-2’s setting around. Wanted to do something just outside of Grozeny, but perhaps a new venue is showing it’s face. I also have a couple T-64’s that I bought for the same idea. Only to find out they didn’t use them. Kinda thinking a Hind might come my way soon.

In the book Plain Speaking, HST made the comment that “history is always written by the victors.” Yet as you said history is really a merry go round. Old foolish men don’t remember history much, or think they are smarter than history. The Bible says “there will always be wars and rumors of wars.” That statement has lasted all thru time.
What I am seeing are several things going on in eastern Europe. Russia is not a paper tiger per say, but somewhat over rated. They’ve moved into another Chechnya, but also much worse. These folks have an agenda to keep Russia at bay, while Russia covets there position. Then there is the never ending propaganda wars! This guy says he shoots down twenty five plane in one day and the other guy admits to two or three. Actually six or eight. I kill two dozen tanks, but two thirds were wheeled, and actually took out eight tracks altogether. Three or four others broke down or were bogged down. Yet I see a six year old girl die in front of the camera. I wonder who’ll take credit for that act of valor? I’d be ashamed of myself!

That was actually the Soviet doctrine WAY back in the day when I was in Berlin. First and second echelon were to move as fast as possible and bypass pockets of heavy resistance and the third echelon would take then out with their best stuff.
and where did they learn that? Think George Patton who learned it from a guy the Brits laughed at.
glt
are they the baseline BMP-2?
and would you be interested in seeling one of the BMP-2?
No from the look of the reactive armor array on the turret Id have to say its T73B3
Frenchy, these tanks look recoverable, where is the tractor brigade?
Best quote:
“Only the dead have seen the end of war.”
Plato
Anybody know these? Lot stuff there, is that for one day?
Wish i could read Russian, English would not be bad either…
LOL
@Neo judging by the size of the green box and it’s contents i would say that is supposed to be enough food for 24 hours.
there is a video which i linked early thar shows these meals are 7 years out of date!
Neo, they will be 24hr rat packs … and although British rat packs have improved ten fold from what they used to be … they really aint the best …
If they aren’t the best, i’d like to know whose are!
I’ve sampled field rations from many a different Army and I can say with my hand on my heart, i wouldn’t swap what we had in the 90s for anyone else’s.
The American rations were simply garbage in comparison. They were forever trying to scrounge or swap for our rations.
Looks like they’re officer’s rations, called IRP-P :

I did a swap in 96 for the fun of it, Butterscotch Pork Chops I think. As I recall only the crackers tasted ok in that one. We do have some dogs in the pile but I liked a few of them.
