RuZZia clutching at straws much?

RBV 6000 anti-submarine weapon system (lest we not forget, these weapons use forms of sonar to detect their targets) ‘caught on dashcam’ strapped to a RuZZian vehicle of some kind.

Quite possibly, RuZZia is fast running out of ships to fix these to, so trucks and MTLBs will have to do.

You can i’m sure get the MTLB kits easily, the RBV 6000 not so.

RBU 6000 :

I guess this variant is designed to shoot at submarines when they venture on the ground…

Similar to the Hedgehog from WW II, unguided depth charges, no sonar function, can also be used for shore bombardment, entered service in 1960–1961.

" The RBU-6000 Smerch-2 (Реактивно-Бомбовая Установка, Reaktivno-Bombovaja Ustanovka ; reaction engine-bomb installation & Смерч; waterspout) is a 213 mm caliber Soviet anti-submarine rocket launcher. It is similar in principle to the Royal Navy Hedgehog system used during the Second World War. The system entered service in 1960–1961 and is fitted to a wide range of Russian surface vessels. It consists of a horseshoe-shaped arrangement of twelve launch barrels, that are remotely directed by the Burya fire control system (that can also control the shorter ranged RBU-1000). It fires RGB-60 rockets, which carry unguided depth charges. The rockets are normally fired in salvos of 1, 2, 4, 8 or 12 rounds. Reloading is automatic, with individual rounds being fed into the launcher by the 60UP loading system from a below deck magazine. Typical magazine capacity is either 72 or 96 rounds per launcher. It can also be used for shore bombardment."

I learned something today

At the end of the day a rocket is a rocket, as long as it goes boom, the system maybe guided by sonar on ships but that is just for targeting, the rockets are launched in the general area of the sonar contact, launch them at something you can see you don’t need sonar, heavier missile but probably shorter range than the BM 21.

If there were enough BM21 to go round, don’t you think they’d be using them instead of a hashed up anti-submarine warfare system?

That’s debatable, it’s not like BM 21 is the only rocket system out there, all of which have different capabilities, or that there are a lot of these hash ups out there, they seem to be used at a lower level than artillery systems. Let’s not forget that the separatists are still out there and may not have been fully supplied by the Russians? But other than guessing, who knows?
