Back on topic, low quality image of the latest and greatest in Russian add-on armour. Forget DIY cope cages, now they are going for standardised and prefab (albeit designed for another purpose)

Shipping container armor, I guess if you’re not exporting you gotta use them for something.

Interesting, it looks like those turret front ERA arrays may be pulled directly from a T-64 BV.

Yes, it does. Here are some screen shots of the turret. They have armor plating on the upper glacis.

Really interesting to see how these Abrams are modified very differently from the US ones. Also even in these pictures it is very different how RA blocks are placed. Straight on the turret front or at an angle. On the glcis or not, on top of the armoured periscope - or not. So many possibilities for a modeller. I think I will make a model of one of them. The turret net system will be a challenge though.

The Russians have patented a protective system to counter FPV – “Dandelion”. The protection consists of flexible reinforced rods that branch into several tiers.

Wow, interesting find . I got the impression these things are just were completely improvised. Did you find any details on the framework these are attached to ?

The first image shows a cage around the turret and the rods (#4 in the third image) are welded onto the cage. For the hull, looks like the rods (#4) are welded directly to the hull.

Another image of the counter FPV “Dandelion” rods.
