Same, always loved the BMP and BMD, all versions.
They remind me of a good sports car - look like they are hauling azz when their just sitting still.
LOL

I’m no expert but i see the Russian borg have removed the unditching log from the right hand side of both of those BMP-3’s. i always was thought it’s location was a bad idea as they couldn’t traverse the turret to the right and aim low with it.

@Frenchy many thanks for more reference materiel :+1:

The log can be either held in a high position on top of the hull or it can be lowered to sit down the side on hinges. I’ve highlighted the arms and hinges in yellow and the log down the side in red. Edited this as Frenchy posted the pic in his post below showing the log position down the side of the hull and you can see the arms also.

A few years back, my club had ‘People’s Choice’ comp where everyone had to paint one piece of military equipment. It could be anything. Most did Jerry cans, helmets, a rifle, etc. I did a vignette of a German Tank crew’s grave with the cupola of a Panzer IV and track segment. It was replicating an actual photo.

Is posting the flag okay? Do I need to obscure it like Facebook? It is reproducing a historical image not making a social or political statement.

the flag is fine with me Pete, it’s historical and accurate, so I’m cool with it.

How about what if’? I got the idea of doing my T14 armata from zvezda as a what if captured by the ukrainian inspired by the other russian tank the ukrainian captured during the war. I think it’d get deploy in ukraine i he hadn’t had those delays issues.

It’s a grave. That’s the least offensive place for it… aside from among the wreckage of a destroyed panzer. And this is good too. JMHO.

Can’t remember if I have posted this one already…

How much force does it take to blow a turret clean out of a vehicle? Seems to be easy as there are numerous images of turrets on the ground.

Blowing the turret off is one thing,
when a MBT turret goes flying a hundred
feet or more away from the tank is another thing.
I saw video of some Bayraktar strike where this
big lollipop shape came floating up from the
explosion cloud and then slowly fell back
50 to 100 feet away from the tank.

600-900 psi. Give or take a 100…

Should have put this in the Buy Sell Trade section but I was here so…

Usually a basic load of main gun ammo will do the trick. Early production Sherman tanks (non wet stowage) in WWII often lost a turret, had the side sponsons blow out, or both from ammo fires. The T-34 would often lose the roof of the turret from ammunition detonation.

the T-14 is still under going trials so i can’t see it being deployed at the moment not even in a token force. it would look even more embarrassing for the Russians if their up and coming new tank gets the snot kicked out of it as much as their current armour deployment is.

the what if rely on the idea the delay didn’t happened

yeah but the T-14 is still being tested it’s not fully part of the Russian army yet, as far as i know.
