Modelling armour in Ukraine crisis

I don’t feel so bad now about some of my painting skills. Some of those 1:1 examples look worse than my efforts!

so last night i set a puzzle, how is it possible to travel from moscow to california in three hours and there have been some interesting anwers (i’m looking at you Robin) and a few others as well that made me smile.

the simple answer is this: live in Scotland!

there is a city called Kilmarnock and a few miles from it, is a small village called, Moscow!
now travel by car for about three hours and you arrive at another Scottish town called Falkirk, and near to this town is a small village called… California!

It means puzzle, right? Because I was ‘puzzled’? Oof, Robin you need some new material !

Edit- @Robin_Nilsson - haha you replied while I was editing!

Yup! I asked Google to translate ‘conundrum’ and one alternative had the meanings:

  • puzzle,
  • conundrum,
  • teaser,
  • brain teaser

so that is the one I went with

It’s actually a great name for a Russian piece of kit. Like one of those NATO reporting names- I mean they called one big Russian mobile radar ‘Flaplid’- it looks like a big flappy lid alright but ‘Puzzle’ or ‘Conundrum’ sounds much better!

Thanks for that extra info mate and the link to the conversion :+1:.

If it was a signals jammer or spoofer then the name would be suitable :+1:

Back when I visiting perspective colleges one was Upsala College… in New Jersey.
It has since closed.

Here is a brief video of the ex-GDR NVA BMP-1, soon to be seen in service with Ukrainian Armed Forces. The tanks had quite an odysee behind them.

This is a precisely shielded KV-1. I came across this from several sources. In addition, this is logic: the shields were made according to the results of the Soviet-Finnish war, the episode took place near Leningrad.
There is a caption under this photo that this is his tank, but this is most likely not the case.

Golovolomka - literally “break (lomka) head (golovo)”. Dictionary definition: “A puzzle is a difficult task that typically requires quick wit rather than high-level specialist knowledge.”
These toys will clearly demonstrate

By the way, batons also rack their brains.

I would like to think that the crews got our alive, a possibility for the BMP crews but I have my doubts for the MBT guys. Those autoloader carousels seem to go awfully quick.

Some useful close-ups
