Probably cleaning out the details with a damp brush ![]()

@Dioramartin in what movie is it? Seems a real-history picture, and give me an absolutely new perspective that Hitler is really really serious for dealing with his vision concerning about how Germany will be look-like in the future under his 1000 years Reich regime.
I think there is a newsreel clip of this (in b & w) - which I know barely qualifies for this thread title - and this is a still photo, so I guess it was a propaganda photo-op at some stage, presumably before around 1942 (?) I recall reading Hitler would spend hours looking at this model towards the end of the war too.
It became clear that he was a person that pay much attention to details, and it also explain about his previous life as a street painter… His well known painting is a town building ‘The Alter Hof in Munich’ which dealing with lot of details on it. Yeah, life is full of surprise.
In the episode “Collection completed” of the Tales from the Crypt TV series, Roy vainly tries to get his friend Jonas into building aircraft models…

Another findings: A pair of jet fighter scale model featuring in 1986 Top Gun movie, circa minute 40-41, when Tom Cruise most famous character ‘Maverick’ has a brief talk with one of his colleagues ‘Slider’ (played by Rick Rossovich). We can see the appearance of an A-4 model held by Slider (not fully captured in my screenshot below), and an F-14 model at the right side of his sitting position.
It’s not good at all. It’s great!
I’d watch this just to work on my horrible Scottish accent, which I’ll need as my nephew is attending St. Andrews University later this year. Kelly Macdonald is always a pleasure to watch. How she ditched that Scottish accent to do a perfect West Texas accent is beyond me.
Which brings up some nods to NCFOM - the use of the terms “friendo” and “in a jackpot,” which I’ve never heard used anywhere else.
Just curious, has ny one made a kit of the San Pablo, from the movie Sand Pebbles?
Since not a huge fans of sci-fi, but still curious about whether can they be classified as scale model or nay… If so, a great action from the legendary cop John McClane (starring Bruce Willis) in Die Hard 4.0 movie, during his effort escorting a hacker named Matt Farrel (played by Justin Long) from the hunt of cyber terrorist, at Matt’s apartment when it attacked, may be included, as some pieces of action figure of X-Men characters and a model of Terminator cyborg are seen there:

The X-Files, S1.E2 “Deep Throat” Sept1993.
What a classic episode. Military test pilot Lt. Col. Robert Budahas clearly has a plastic kit hobby, as well as losing his marbles while flying advanced aircraft that may (or may not) have been developed from alien technology found in the craft that crashed (or didn’t) at Roswell.
Yes!
I’ve recently started rewatching The X-Files and saw that.
Didn’t think to grab it for here, so good catch.
Yes, it’s just come back to Amazon Prime after a year or two away.
Ah, I found it on Disney. My partner subbed to it last year so we could watch the rest of What We Do in the Shadows (BBC is about 2 years behind on that) and we’re finding excuses to keep it.
I binged The Orville over last Christmas and enjoyed that. Haven’t found much else I want to watch.
Sitting here with Robocop 3 on in the background and there is this scene at the beginning of the movie showing a young boy’s hobby table and he is in the process of assembling an ED-209 (Enforcement Droid Series 209).

Otto goes to the hobby shop and attempts to buy a couple dozen tubes of glue. When questioned about the excessive amount of glue, he buys 3 models, which he promptly throws in the trash upon leaving the store. ![]()
I remember a movie. Possibly in the 90s. Probably British. A gang was planning a heist and were holed up together in a house probably somewhere like France or Spain.
To pass the time one of the gang is building a Tamiya 1/35th tank. Another of the gang wanders over and takes an interest. The modeller tells him about the model and then goes to on to talk about the hobby in a way that clearly indicated to me that either the actor or writer was a an actual modelmaker. The scene was effectively a little bit of ‘product placement’ for modelling. A nice bit of PR.
I cannot remember what film it was though.
Other memories were of seeing a Tamiya Stug III for sale in the Coronation Street corner shop sometime in the 70s.
In an episode of ‘Minder’ series 1. Terry is sent to protect a corner shop. Clearly it was a real shop. There was an Airfix 1/24th Spitfire and a couple of other Airfix kits under the magazine rack and on the back wall lots of Matchbox kits and toys.
Remember when every corner shop, newsagent and sweet shop always had a selection of model kits?
Ah nostalgia!
That model isn’t going to be doing any flying unless he skins the wings so that they’re not just bare spars and ribs. Which puts it squarely in the sacred “unfinished kit” category.
