New AHHQ/Takom M4A3E8 in 1/16 scale…

Shoot, all this talk of this gigantic Sherman made me pull the trigger and just spent $150 pre-order… :smiley:
I’m going to need to sell a lot of 3D prints to make up for the hole. :laughing: Don’t tell wifey.

Good luck sneaking that huge box into the house!

Something I’m looking forward to is watching online videos of someone adding a lot of detail to one of these big Shermans…Andy built his pretty much OOTB except for the board he added in the front. No tie downs for the tools, no chains for the various plugs, etc…I’ll definitely be paying attention to AM but since I’ll be building an expedient jumbo with my kit, most of that will have to be scratch built…

Nice, the old school scratch building is great, too! It’s a choice between money vs. time vs. fun in my view.

@James_Lee

There are a couple of AM items I’d be interested in picking up, the track repair tools and the thread protector on the late gun barrel…I’ve scratch built both in 1/35 before but at a larger scale? Any inaccuracy will be a lot more apparent and my skills are not what they were 10-15 years ago, between my eyes and my arthritis it can be challenging to work on models these days. I think that’s why I’m so looking forward to this big Sherman…Maybe this is something you can take to your guy to work on?

Guys, the tank I really really want to build with Andy’s kit is “flat foot floogie”. I think It’ll be the best starting point from the turret down, but the turret, the track tools, the add-on extra armor, the spare wheels on both sides, and I’ll need a split hatch cupola to modify the turret to the older version…

This is a pic of the tank I want to build, just like this down to the large duffel bag on the glacis and the M14(?) hanging on the barrel, notice the tip of the barrel I can probably do simply by cutting the muzzle brake and then wrapping the tip in material like the real tank shows in this photo, but everything else is going be be scratch or AM…

Here’s another picture of her from the other side…

The four spare wheels are not typical on these shermans and I think they look so cool, it’s kind of what the IDF did with their M50 and M51 tanks but 20-25 years later…

Kind of need a mix n match with the ILK version, its no where near as nicely detailed as AHHQ’s but has the right turret. How the parts match fit wise is any ones guess of course. Maybe have to see what the AM guys come up with, finally some decent 1/16th US stowage will arrive for certain. I know AFV Modeller are already working on .50 cal ammo cans and looking at the ILK wheels.

@kornbeef
I’d love to see the progress on yours and maybe images of some of the issues too…

Just a heads up folks, Andy has these in stock now!

He’s still has the introductory price of $139.00 up on the store and there will be no more runs of this kit, once they’re gone the prices will be ridiculous!

They arrived about a month early so plan ahead for Christmas :wink:
Here’s his video announcing the arrival plus some accesories that can be purchased to upgrade your Shermans :slight_smile: I’m supposed to get mine in the next couple of days, I can’t wait to see it and get started on it!

I just received mine 10 minutes agoe, and all I can say WOOOW WOOOW this is eventualy going to be a lot of fun.
You don’t even have to replace the 50 cal. it is fantastic unlike the mediocre one in the Jeep kit.

Just bit the bullet and ordered one. Does anyone know how the Takom 1/16 Stug is?

This kit is so nice I just ordered another one

My kit finally arrived today. I am totally blown away by this kit. It’s absolutely beautiful! To say it’s Tamiya quality would do it an injustice - the detail is better than Tamiya but the quality, molding, sharpness, and engineering are right up there with the Big T. Outstanding job Takom and AHHQ! This kit is incredible.

WOW…have to hand it to the people working at Andy’s Hobby HQ…I ordered my kit earlier this afternoon, and I already got shipping info with tracking number. I have also seen this kit on EBay going for 300-350.00

That’s why I ordered another.
Figure the price of a RFM Tiger, this is an even better buy
