No idea where I got the stuff about a year or so ago but it seems like it’s no more? All that shows up is a similar bottle of Testors but it seems that people are not happy with the nozzle and I can see why. The Model Master had this fine steel needle on it. Anyone have any info on this as far as this applicator?
Hi…not sure where you got Model Master liquid cement in the black plastic container with metal tip…the entire Model Master line was discontinued several years ago. In my area of Maryland what few Hobby Shops there are or your big box craft stores, Michaels and Hobby Lobby sell Testors liquid cement in a Red plastic container and a plastic tip, that’s horrible ! It clogs up all the time…it’s the same liquid cement as what was in the Model Master container.
Not sure where you are or what’s available to you. A HobbyTown USA…one hour drive to the West of us or a hobby shop to our North in the York PA area…sell the Revell of Germany paint line and supplies. ROG makes a Blue plastic container of liquid cement with a metal applicator/tip just like Model Master did. I have the ROG liquid cement and it’s good, works very well. Still have 3/4 of the black container of Model Master liquid cement laying around too . Hope this helps, Mike
The Model Master cement with the metal tube applicator is no more. It has been replaced with the Testor’s bottle with the plastic tube that, as you note, clogs. Testor’s includes a metal wire to clear blockages. It’s still the same great cement, though. As Mike recommends, Revell makes Revell Contacta Professional cement in the blue bottle, which has a metal needle applicator and is the same consistency cement as the Testor’s. It is very good cement.
That’s hard to get these days for some reason,Or Model Master has totally gone Belly Up; I managed to stock up on some from Menards,But it no longer has the Metal Applicator,It’s all Plastic; Just be cautious where You cut the Tip.
I just checked and saw that Hobbylinc where I buy from occasionally stocks that. Checked a Hobby Town near me but no luck. Thanks.
It is my understanding that Testor’s was bought out by Rustoleum a while back and they discontinued much of the Model Master line.
Glenn glad to help. You have any model shows/contests in you area ? Here in the Mid Atlantic there are normally a handful or more IPMS sponsored shows/contests, with Vendors selling kits and supplies . Also the AMPS organization puts on shows/contests again Vendors selling kits and model supplies. Just a thought over mail order . Mike
Have you tried Tamiya’s extra thin cement?
and their thicker version
As an aside, their airbrush thinner is also their extra thin cement and it is much cheaper to buy by the ounce. i just refill my cement jar.
Ok technically they are not the same. There is a 1% difference in their chemical balance ratio. However you can’t tell the 1% difference in smell, color, or its plastic welding ability.
Yes I use the extra thin as well. I was able to get a container of that Revell contacta and it does have that long metal needle applicator.
