Non-Railway Modeller Needs More Help Please

G, your brick work is photo-realistic. It is indistinguishable from a 1:1 brick wall.

I think I forgot that. All the more impressive.

Hi all,

Thought I’d spend an hour or so avoiding the hottest part of the day by starting to scribe the cobbles, along with blocking out some rough colouring.

Cheers,,

Gee G.! You are certainly back on track and on a roll here!
I really love the progress you made and the addition of those flowers are a unexpected yet very nice feature!

Apologies for not responding sooner Erwin, but I’ve been away for a week. Thanks for your feedback, it was good to hear from you, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Have been mocking up the building that sits across from the embankment, it’s likely going to be a partial corner shop,.

I’ve also been thinking about the small area of dead space between the buttress return and the road. It’s not a large area so could be left as an overgrown space, however I’ve mocked up an ‘Anderson shelter’ (the pig sty shaped object). I’ve seen a couple of images of them used as Air Raid Warden Posts clad in sandbags, as opposed to buried in gardens…I thought it might make for an interesting feature,.

If anyone has any thoughts/suggestions please feel free to comment, :slightly_smiling_face:.

Nice base additions mate. It’s taking shape now. Corner shop idea is good as is the Anderson shelter… Realistic and very feasible

Fascinating to watch another part of the Magical World of G take shape – you have such a unique style I reckon most of us would correctly identify a teaser-shot of any of your dios straight away. Which led me to wonder if this one would/could adjoin one or more of your previous masterpieces, serving as deeper backgrounds?

Nice add on…
Idea: since the railway facing wall is blank, why not add/paint a advert on it? High up, so it will be visible from the passing trains…

Thanks to everyone above for their kind words, continued support, and suggestions, :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:.

Tim, I have thought in the past of maybe trying to create a series of A4 scenes that could be used either by themselves, or combined together as part of a larger diorama…it would need some thought, and patience, but it’s not a ‘no’, :grimacing:.

Erwin, again the thought of some sort of advertising on the side, though not sure how to go about it, :unamused:. Though it won’t be ‘Bile Beans’, looked them up… ‘black, gelatinous beans’…yuk, :face_vomiting:, that was used as a laxative, double yuk, :face_vomiting: :face_vomiting: .

Hi all,

Thought I’d have a play at creating an Anderson shelter…maybe bit off more then I can chew, :face_exhaling:.

I decided that rather than make it solid I’d create sheets of corrugated metal using foil and my homemade 1/72nd jig. It’s a tad flimsy, and only approximately 25wx30lx25h (mm), but hopefully will be reinforced by the foam surround that will form the base for the sandbags, :unamused:.

It’s not great, but once I’ve formed the entrance there won’t be much to see, especially as the view will be restricted by the building.

Once everything has dried I’ll use solvent to thin out, and rough shape the foam before coating it with DAS, then I’ll scribe the sandbags.

Cheers,,

That looks neat. The corrugated sheets look really good. I’d be very happy with that matey.

Hi all,

Thought I’d create something to sit inside the Anderson shelter, it’s a tad rough and ready, but it will hardly be visible, if at all, once the front of the shelter is added.

Apologies that the exposed shots don’t show up too well, should be better once painted, :face_exhaling:.

If it’s not entirely clear it’s a bunk bed with something draped over the end post, duckboard floor, pile of boxes under a tarp, and I am working on a table and a chair,.

And insitu…

Cheers,,
