Not a Moment to Lose... Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes, December 1944

Outstanding from top to bottom in every aspect of diorama building. Veggies ground work buildings vehicle and figures all top notch.

Outstanding job on the figures Tim; I have the Life Color flesh set and even though I’ve only used them once so far, they are great. I use Vallejos for everything else for figure painting. I too only paint figures a couple times a year and it’s almost like having to relearn things again.

I have that book as well, great reference. Keep up the excellent work!

I looked for the book and Amazon can supply from £70 to £190! I model in 1/16 these days to compensate for my 70 year old eyes! So, is the book relevant to 1/16 and is it worth the money?

I just downloaded it from Scrib. You can subscribe to Scrib for a month for much less and download it in PDF.

Not sure why it came out in German.

Histoire & Collections are French and they usually publish in French by default.. so we’re lucky to have this in any other language!

Pete, I think this book would be useful in any scale - although I imagine there are now dedicated 16th figure painting guides out there…

Thanks Richard,

At least the two year gap stops us from becoming complacent!

Thanks Jerry…

I always welcome praise from the master (although probably no hair effects here I’m afraid!)

How did 6 weeks just go by? It has been taken up with painting five Germans in various types of camouflage. Aagh!!

My usual work rate for these dioramas is 3 years each… so I was slightly annoyed to miss my own deadline for the latest IPMS Scale Model World in Telford. It was still a great show, even if I had nothing in competition. So watch out next year because this one is getting close to completion.

Anyway, first out of the paint shop is my Schwimm driver. There have been a few updates to the vehicle as well, including the evergreen foliage and the stowage. It reminds me a little of when we used to pack the car for family holidays…

You took Panzerfausts on your family holidays? Good idea - I could certainly have used some on mine(!)

What an incredible diorama. I love the figures and the diorama base and house work is world class.

That looks fantastic!! I reckon in a grainy b&w, it would be tricky to tell it apart from the real thing.

I was just coming on to ask about the comp. Sorry to hear you missed the deadline. You must have been working feverishly hard. A testament to your commitment that you chose not to finish it ‘too quickly’.
