ODS crosswind sensor for early U S Army M1A1

Hello, I am converting a Tamiya M1A1 Kit into a U S Army Desert Storm Tank and have drawn and printed this crosswind sensor for that time period. I used some other kit dimensions and some images online for the sensor but still not sure if this will pass for a U S Army ODS tank. Would like some feed back from you more experienced tank modelers. Thanks in advance, George

I see a couple of things you might do if you like. The first is adding an additional smaller diameter ring above the large one:

Very close. Without comparing side by side photos, no one would discern any differences.

I would also check for that nearly rectangular portion on the top, as well as the height of the cross wind slots.

The latest sensor and the one that came with the kit has the rectangular shape top and closed tube with square opening on the side ,but the one I am trying to copy just has a grill like round top from I see. Just trying to get the correct sensor for that early M1A1 tank in Desert Storm.
Thanks for Feedback

There’s no reduction in diameter in the area of the slots, other than that very nice.

Our own James “@Petition2God” Lee has already designed it and offers the file free on Cults3D.

Yeah, just use my STL, George. Mine should be quite accurate.

While I like James’s prints, I applaud George for trying to CAD his own. I think James’s work could be used to study your own design.

The slits are different between the two, I feel George’s looks more like I recall than James’s, not to say his incorrect because the photo backs it up James’s work just I recall longer slats.

Could be like Ken mentions in the link about other types, though his photos show the shorter slats.

Ok fellows, this is what I have drawn. I have used petition2God 's references, other images and I come up with this.I am a 3D CAD tech and designer and know when you start scaling down you have to compromise some detail for the eye in model making.
Thanks again fellows for your time and input. If anyone wants this cad drawing in a stl file I will send free.

6 screws on the angled access plate .

It should have the two latches that lock it down.

Thanks, I was going by the Tamiya part that came with the kit. Do you know if this type of sensor worked with the 120mm gun?

I don’t know when the change over from one type to another occurred, best bet would be to confirm it through photos.
