On using solder wire in place of lead wire

I’ve used solder wire in place of lead for wiring, hoses, etc., but if using solder wire with flux core, would that (leaking flux?) prove any problems down the road?
 :canada:

I would say it’s not a great substitute since most flux cores are acid based, if your lengths are short enough you can probably flush the flux out depending on how small in diameter the lead solder is.

But solid solder (no flux) is OK?

BTW; fly fishing shops carry various thickness lead wire, and I’ve found some shops on AliExpress as well, even some lead sheet.

I have a reel of resin/flux cored solder that is at least 50 years old and it shows no sign of leaking!

^Ditto^ I have used flux core solder for years and also have had no issues. It is great to replicate hoses and lines that twist around.

I use several items from my fly tying desk. Various ribbing and tensile and the fly tying threads all make nice in scale slings, straps, rope etc. I use my punch pin gum smithing set for bending PE radiuses.
