Operation "Epsom" details

Beautiful as always JR , attention to detail bar none !!!
I don’t know if it’s the camera , trick of the unpainted light or what but the right hand looks a little large .
Not a dealbreaker really , it’s just that now when I keep looking at him that’s the first thing I see .

Thanks for the awesome response buddy! I am sure you are not faint hearted if you read the whole thread! Quite an achievement in endurance if nothing else.
Yeah, lots of good comments from a great bunch here on this forum. Lots of ability and knowledge and of course, brilliant humour!

Of course you are absolutely correct. I have been looking at exactly the same thing everytime I look at this guy. I think the left hand is more in scale.

Yes exactly. Even occasionally  at work I’d be able to advance along the progress, all the while enjoying the discoveries.
You know I can still remember your wonderful Dio from a number of moons ago whereas you depicted a German supply column or retreating forces, an end of the war piece! Yes that’s it. Just brilliant! I tried to bring it frwd but I guess I got as far back as Oct '20 . This Diorama was probably eight or nine years ago, could be wrong on that though. And didn’t you also have a small vignette, sort of a change of pace for you, w/ a female civi in front of her home and a mounted Napoleonic Officer? And I know there was another one from France 1944, w/ US and German Infantry.
My memory is not what it used to be naturally, BUT I DO remember your contributions being of the Master Class level. Something for us to strive towards. And yes I bought the first three issues of “Operation Epsom”.
OK I’ll go sit down now.

Thanks from a fan

Thanks Dave!! I really appreciate all the kind words and support ! That means a lot to me buddy. Yeah that one about the German retreat in Normandy was a good while ago now but I included a few pics from it in my closing article in AFV Magazine.
Happy Modeling bud,

Really liking the way the various items drape about the body Jerry, nicely executed, :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:.

Thanks buddy. I am replacing the rifle hand as we speak and also working on the top of the bando. as it looks kinda wonky.

Hulk hand …SMASH :joy:

On a genuine note, another lovely update JR… Some of the (all) sculpting is so precise… Fantastic attention to detail mate

Thanks John, very kind thing to write Sir!

Wow, blown away by the dynamics of this scene Jerry! There’s an incredible sense of movement of the German troops, some moving past the British position but keeping a close eye on their comrades as they go in close. The MP-40 gunner over the shoulder of the spade-wielder is perfectly positioned- watching his friends back and carefully aiming at the British tommy levelling his rifle- the way you have taken the picture lets you see the narrative unfolding there. The dead, both British and German, echo both the closeness of this battle but also the tenacity of both forces not to yield and I think this new piece really drives that home.

I also have a request- could you perhaps take a picture facing the British position?

Wow, Jerry, a completely amazingly done scene, an intense moment full of action, you can just hear and feel the ferocity of the fight.
Truly brilliant work, fabulous :+1:

Very happy and impressed that you picked out all that stuff that I was attempting. Very gratifying for sure. You mean a pic like this ??

Thanks mate,glad you liked it.
It always struck me, reading history books, when the author writes stuff like " the action got down to hand to hand" how that dry phrase translates into reality on the ground. You cannot get more real than “hand to hand”.

Yes that’s the exact angle. I was interested to see the facial expressions of the Brits and how the poses looked from the opposite direction. Both poses and expressions are awesome by the way!
