Repairing a 3DP artifact

My AGDS project hit a snag when the ADATS sight head unit hit the floor and somebody stepped upon it.

I’ve used two-part epoxy to repair other modeling casualties before.

I managed to fill the gap in the flat top plate. But that corner looks like a Ukrainian FPV drone dropped a 40mm HEDP on it. I also want to square that thin corner with some bar stock, backfill the hole, and then remove the stock and reshape the top plate.

Help me ObiWan(s). You’re my only hope!

I see two options: Remove the whole plate and replace. It might even be more to scale if you do that.
Or - put a piece of waxed paper begin the damaged area, build up and shape with baking soda, and add CA. That method gives you the mass you need to fill it, but will require further shaping obviously.
I’d go with the first option. Other than the two nubs on it, I’d have it done in the time it took to type this,

I’d suggest prioritizing the method of repair to match the materials you have on hand.

If all you have is CA and baking soda, then that’s what to use. If you have two-part epoxy putty, then that would work. Got some sheet styrene the right thickness and CA or epoxy glue? Then maybe use that. Any or all of these will work on UV cured 3D printed parts.

Consider your time and effort needed to procure some particular materials that you don’t already have as part of the cost of making the repair. If you have options, also consider using what you’re most comfortable and experienced with.

You say you’ve used two-part epoxy putty before, so if you have some already on hand, then that might be the “best” material and method to use.

I would go with the suggestion from @18bravo
Using putty, epoxy or CA all ends with the need to get the “lump” to final shape once it has hardened.
Using styrene sheet to build the shape is faster. The final shaping may still need to be done but styrene is easier to work with.

Yeah, I think if i were to do it I’d take my own advice here. But I don’t even know how small the thing is. Maybe it’s not feasible. Oh, wait…

Nah.

Mine is UGE compared to that!
