Hello everyone, again, this topic originally is a reposted topic from a thread with similar title that I ever been posted before in old version of Armorama. Just want to avoid losing of my old post on the old Armorama website. Also, such finished diorama is not perfect at all and just want to share how fun it is, when the build is in progress, and also when it called done.
Quoting part of my description from the old posts:
"Honestly, this diorama is my third project that finished in 2010…
I have no deep research on constructing it, just an instant idea that represents a WW II rural situation when several Heer troops equipped with PAK 35/36 AT gun performs gunfire toward their enemies. In such situation, a platoon of SS troops has arrived next to the AT gun crew’s firing location and perform their combat immediately, as they were want to back up the AT gun crew… "
After some time, couples of friendly fellow modelers here give me some advice to improve the part of such diorama, which I described also about how the improvement done, as I quoted here:
" I’m back with minor improvements on this diorama after valuable suggestions from Claude Joachim and Bob Davis as follows:
The posts were removed, so the jumping soldaten would not be injured and also no “Ouch!” needed, LOL
Field grey acrylic paint from Tamiya is applied onto almost of the soldaten’s basic tunic. Hope it right
Out-of-scale leaves were removed and I hope such action was able to make the diorama layout became better than before.
Still have any constructive critics and comments? Do not hesitate to reply this post, since I always try to learn and learn more. Furthermore, I hope fun and enjoy from this idea sharing for all of us."
In the end, still also similar with my request in the previous post: be kind for any additional comments and critics please, since I do NO research or something at all for accuracy of the events of this diorama project. Just feel happy when it’s done and improved. Also here is the web address to the archived post:
I think your modeling skills are spot on. You like the rest of us are improving with each build. No build is ever perfect, and that really is the great catch. Always trying to improve.
If I may be so bold to add a small area to improve. It’s NOT your modeling skills; it would be historical accuracy. BUT, if you are happy with the scene then to heck with what others say

I got your word, I will keep them in my mind. The historical accuracy is also important in the same level with how to get fun when building a project. That’s what I really really want to balance them both. Thanks for your support and appreciation mate @Whitney_Foreman , that’s really really kind man.
Saya suka kemajuannya!
It’s really cool Bahasa / Indonesian translation anyway my friend. I think you’re right, it might be too many figures, since the basic idea is there were several Heer troops equipped with PAK 35/36 AT gun performs gunfire toward their enemies. In such situation, a platoon of SS troops has arrived next to the AT gun crew’s firing location and perform their combat immediately, as they were want to back up the AT gun crew.
But after some time, I just realized almost no battle situation involved Heer and SS in the exact same time. I just think with a correction idea should I enlarge the base, reduce some elements, or another better idea, for the next time in another project. Really thanks for your suggestion and comments mate @SamS , have a nice modeling day!
Indeed, Sir. Enjoying the scenery and details that should I have to improve more and more… Also part of my self healing. Many thanks and have a nice modeling day Sir @Richard_Herrington
I think you have all the elements of an excellent scene (perhaps a few too many) and I like your photography too. And I agree with the improvements you and others have suggested.
A slightly larger base would help. I would simplify the scene by removing some unnecessary figures and kit lying around, instead putting more varied debris all over. A smaller more realistic tree with small arms damage perhaps, to convey that “the enemy” is not far away. The 251 needs toning down a lot with thin muddy washes but leave the wheels/tracks, they’re fine.
I’d also consider what it would be like to be in this scene. Would you leap out of the 251 exposing yourself to enemy fire when the rear doors could be opened? You should keep the leaping guys because they convey the urgency, but maybe they could be jumping over a low wall (or a big fallen tree branch) instead.
Lastly it might be good to pin this scene to an actual event – could this be Poland 1939 for example, or France 1940, or Russia 1941? A road sign or broken shop sign in the local language could be useful. It adds another dimension to the scene for very little extra work.
Anyway you’ve got the right idea, keep on improving like we all should.

You’re absolutely right, Sir. A larger base, figures, tree, and even the debris, many fellow modeler already consider about all of that. Since such build was completed in 2010, and that time, I have no more idea about until I post it in old website, and lots of suggestion came in as your list. Specific criticism are about the too large debris and tree’s leaves, vehicle’s camo that should be toned down, the scale accuracy of the brick ruins, the time scene, and many more. Lot of thanks, it will be my precious improvement items for the next project.
Anyway, many thanks also for your appreciation about the photo and scene, Sir @Dioramartin . Have a fun and nice modeling day!
