Revell AH-1G build

Isn’t there one at gate one by FT Carson?

I believe you’re right - the gate off of 115 where all the armored vehicles are. I just know there’s one at Butts because they let me take a look at their latest Apaches recently.

We really need to link up some day we have probably passed each other at some point and didn’t even know it.

So, here she is. Done and dusted, literally.

Just got the helmets to add to the figures and do a small base “somewhere in Vietnam”

Tie downs have home made loops and carabiners, not good when you have eyesight like mine, but I can see the finish line

It came out great. Nice job on an old kit.

absolutely fantastic and well worth the wait, it’s truly a work of art.

And here she is, finally done with a base and a couple of figures.

An old kit, and you can tell, but plenty of upgrades available, albeit for the ICM kits.

I’m not too certain on the D troops, 4th cavalry for Squatter Swatter as there’s a couple of bits of conflicting info. And whether WO Bryant flew in SS with Capt Mills, but he did make a comment that himself and WO Bryant were rescued from one of their downed AH-1Gs in one of the modellingforums a while back. So a bit of artistic licence

A little late, I know - but I just found this one on my phone. It’s from the Branson, MO Military Veterans Museum I took last summer.

Thanks. I’d not seen one with the eyelets screwed into the tailboom before.

Ive got a 2nd kit that I have the AH-1S update kit for. I’d be interested to see if the used the same method

That’s exactly why I take as many photos as I can on my museum visits, which number at least a dozen per year. You can get metal eyelets just the right size (stronger) by looking for HO or O scale locomotive lift rings.

It’s a great picture, I am far from a cobra expert but I am not sure about that tie-down. Seems like a museum modification.

All of the photos I’ve posted are. I can imagine that prototypically it was the band around the rotor with lines running to whatever was handy and secure.

I have seen the strap plus other locations.

The d loop below it looks interesting but that location also looks patched and might not support the stresses.
