will do, it’s sat on the side waiting for me to sand the joined fuselage.
new puppy is keeping me away at the moment
Best of luck, they can be a hand full.
A couple of new bits. Fuselage is together and sanded (pics to follow) plus the ammo crossover for the M35 weapons system is done.
Order of the day was sway braces. Some H channel, sanded to shape and rounded off. Then out with the micro drills to add a hole for the resin supports.
Slightly enlarged the slots to fit. I’d removed the stub wing end pylons to make it easier
Great work. Truly an inspirational build for those of us with one in the stash!
Really looking forward to your next update.
Yours is a thing of beauty.
I built one about 10 years ago. Did not put anything special to in it; some special decals of the unit that the customer’s dad flew with. (Furball Decals)
Just getting a couple of group build finished and i’ll be back to it. majority of the joints are sanded now. Mainly painting to finish
Basecoated and pre shading done. Just let that dry then add some extra yellow and orange for the pre shade
Weapons now need painting. And the addition of the smoke dispenser under the rocket pod
And having a tipple after night shift
Painted. US Helo Drab over the pre shading. Then mix in some yellow and post shade
Weapons done in a slightly lighter shade and some metallics. Engine bay doors and cockpit glass done
Going to use the kit decals and see how they go. The paint is satin/gloss to start with so should go on ok
Looking very nice. Good job on the paint variation. I’m looking forward to seeing it with markings.
this is coming along nicely, keep us posted.
Decals on, though im having to redo the shark teeth. The decals didn’t break, but I should probably have left the gun turret off to fit them.
Luckily I have a second kit that im going to convert to a AH-1S so I don’t need the decals for that
Looking good so far. ol’ “Squatter Swatter”
Very clean work.
Getting there. Need to dirty her up a bit now. I oversprayed the US helo drab with a very thin olive drab as the helo drab looked too dark compared to my photos. Re-did the sharks teeth as well
The weapons are on apart from the rocket pod as i have to fit the smoke grenade launcher to it
Next up is a bit of weathering, putting the access doors on etc. I have a set of 3 aircrew from the Vietnam era as well to paint up.
If anyone has details or photos of how the rotor was tied to the tail boom id appreciate it
Doors, canopy glass, weapons and rotor on.
A bit of dust and dirt.
Last bit is the arms for the canopy glass and the figures
I am loving this build so much right now.
I’m digging it.
I do not currently, but there are several within a few hours drive of me. Someone will undoubtedly supply you with some before I can get photos.
In the meantime, a very quick search shows many attached to the front as well. Not all the same model, but that makes little difference.
There really doesn’t appear to be a standard method, at least for museum pieces.
I actually saw this one on the Intrepid last summer.
Repainted when I saw it:
I have friend who can possibly photograph the ones in Canon City, Butts, or Walsenburg.
