Tracks arrived.

Big old box …

2 sides, one set of tracks per side in sealed plastic bags.

Ten sprues per bag, look nicely detailed…

Will hopefully start one side tomorrow

Potential new finish ???

Imagine tabling this at your next comp

Quite like this scheme … hardly see it … something a bit different

I say go for it John. It’s very attractive scheme.

Yeah, I have already made my mind up thats the scheme I’m going for but will paint the RWS green.

Looking over browns, the AK NATO brown appears to be a decent match ?

That’s a base coat of the AK CARC Tan… 079…used half a bottle, mixed 50/50 with cellulose thinners.

And I still need to paint the wheels…:see_no_evil:

I think the AK NATO brown may be a bit red for what I want … Will look at other browns …

Ok, question for thre M1A2 wizards …

I was looking at Mel’s @Mel A3 build and noticed he had main engine deck screens fitted … I thought, thats odd, mine didnt have those … then looking on the PE sprue, lo and behold … there are the 4 screens there … now - the instructions make no mention of them …
So I thought … check scalemates for RFM M1A2 instructions … which I did.

The only ones that mention fitting the screens is the the 5007 kit with interior and the A3 kit …
I checked Oliviers @Bison126 site and his A2 walkaround, and that has them fitted.

Is this an oversight on RFM and they should in fact be fitted ? or not fitted ??

Any help appreciated.

They should be fitted. All Abrams (M1 through M1A2 SEP v3) have the screens.

Try SMS carc tan - really nice shade

good observation, mine has the PE and in the instructions it indicates it, in fact I leave you the part of the instructions where it indicates it

P.S: I hate PE

Yes, I understand that SMS paints are very good, are they acrylic? I’ll look where they sell them here in Europe, I think in Super Hobby (Poland)

Cool … Fitting is an easy 2 minutes fix… Guess RFM just forgot to mention them in a few sets of instructions… :+1:

Acrylic lacquers. Quite good

Can you post a photo of step 19 from your instruction sheet?

Step 20 is the part that has the main decks…

As I mentioned above, the kit instructions from all the RFM A2 versions on scalemates only shows the screens being fitted on the A1/A2 full interior kit …

Looks like they definitely left that step out.

I also have a question for the more knowledgeable people on the Abrams regarding the screen on the left side of the engine deck. I have noticed that some vehicles have the two piece screen whilst some vehicles have a single piece screen. Does this have to do with the APU/Hawker battery setup or is it something different?

Dragon provides both configurations in their Sep V2 kit, does RFM offer a choice?

I just noticed that, they only show the ones on the left but not the rest, great catch on that.

2 piece screen is to allow wading stacks to be fitted. Not sure about other kits but Dragon provides an insert under the removable screen that depicts the stack mounting tabs.
