Literally how the RFM plastic track dropped into place. The tracks went on with less hassle than a set of Fruilmodel.
Still have adjustments to make and some weathering to add etc.
Edit - Made repairs to or replaced wing nuts that broke during weathering, repaired the Notek light and so on.
The streaking was oil paint so Stug-A-Licous will have spend three days or so curing in the cabinet before continuing to base with groundwork.
To be continued…

Trying to sort how to display the Stug III on a base. Did flat coat yesterday so this one is close to the finish line.
Being this is my version of Krag’s famous Stug III, decided to include a Das Reich emblem and Knight’s Cross emblem or what will have to pass for one plus name plate.
Thought of skipping the ground work after doing it for a Pz III Three Amigo’s - Pz III but the base is so big it seems to scream for ground work. Could slap some resin under it and add snow.
Thoughts appreciated.

Wade, this one looks like the winner to me -

Agreed. But I do like the plain wood as well … both work for my eye.

Matt & Johnny, thank you.
Rolling the dice on this very old chuck of air bubble
riddled Tiger Werks resin. I think with filling the worst air bubbles
and a layer of snow it will be OK.
Three layers of thin putty & white glue and at least one more round to go. Red shows area with air bubbles.
Realized the other piece is missing that goes in this spot. Bought this ~25+ years ago, no idea what happened to the missing chuck of resin. Just as well since it would have been riddled with air bubbles
too.
Luckily, there’s these equally old 1/35 bricks in the stash that have been looking for a new home.

I was gonna say stick $2 worth of Tamiya brick wall in there, but hey, build your own!

Matt, that’s a fantastic idea! I need to pick up a couple Tamiya brick wall sets. Had already glued filler bicks in places after getting tired of filling air bubble holes.
Haven’t brush painted this much since the 1980’s. Pushing a paint brush to actually paint isn’t my cup of tea.
Looks like something from the Fracking Wizard of Oz at the moment…
…painted the rubble bricks four different colors and must add some similar variations to the “yellow brick road”…
Revised…with variations to yellow brick road.
Wash of Tamiya Panel Liner on yellow brick road.

Tweaked and tinkered with washes and painting more rubble random colors. Made a template to mask off the base where the Stug’s tracks will sit. Added a light application of white sand, followed with Buff’s homemade Ballast Freeze and additional white sand.
Looks horrible
…LOL!
Applying Ballast Freeze isn’t for the faint of heart. Told myself if this turns out terrible it was just air bubble riddled Tiger Werks resin, no real loss. The model can still go directly on the base etc.
An hour later, looking bit better.

Resin ground work attached to base.
Stug III G attached to ground work.
Hopefully, this will wrap tomorrow with a round of touch ups and minor tweaks.

RFM’s Stug III G kit was fun from start to finish.

Awesome build, well presented. Have this one in the stash.
Currently working on Takom’s with Winterketten. It’s ok, but a lot of loose fit and flash.
Cheers,
George

Thank you, George.
Oh Takom Pz III? Starred the thread wirh one. Lots of poorly designed sloppy fitting suspension. I feel your pain.
Looking forward to seeing your winterketten Pz III.
Cheers
Side note
Discovered late last night the Tiger Werks base, is still available as a Custom Dioramics piece. VlLS had CD but apparently spun them off to new owners. Plan,to cal CD tomorrow and if they can offer assurance the current offerings don’t have hundreds of air bubbles I’ll probably pick up a few items.

I hear you. After my Takom Pz III ausf N experience, I’m passing on all Pz III and Stug III by Takom.
I’m looking forward to trying one of the new Takom Tiger kits fairly soon.
