It is smart to have a few spares, in case one or two suffers a breakdown …

We have one less full Admiral than we might have: Charles told “Randy Andy” he wouldn’t be getting his customary honorary upgrade as he was in the naughty corner. The Duke of York had achieved the rank of Commander during his active career in the RN which ended in 2001, and although no longer on the Active List received honorary promotions up to Vice Admiral, which it is believed he retains although he ceased using his honorary military titles in January 2022.
The Active List currently numbers 3 Admirals, 10 Vice Admirals, 25 Rear Admirals and 1 Surgeon Rear-Admiral.

Regards,

M

Dont forget Commodores, Although not called Admirals, the same as Brigadiers are not called General, they all still hold 1 Star rank and fall into the General/Admiral family … And there are an abundance of those lurking in the shadows throughout the MoD.
