RT-Diorama presented spruce branches for tank camouflage in 1/35 scale.
I like the idea, but I’m not sure how well the 3D printed branches would work being stiff and extremely fragile.
Mario
Yep, and they can not be adapted to the tank, being rigid. On the other hand, they look better than some 2 dimensional photoetch plants.
They are quite bendable and not fragile or stiff at all, they can be adapted around sharp curves by just heating them up slightly beforehand (either hairdryer or warm water)
I will post a few pictures of the process in the upcoming days!
They are infact very flexible and can be adapted perfectly to rounded surfaces for example; they feel and behave almost like real branches would
Available now!
Btw; I was about to post it, but somebody was already faster xD so thank you for posting!
Looking forward to it. I’m really interested to see how these work…
Thank you!
Mario
Just ordered! I look very forward to these.
As no one has thrown in a pun yet, I’ll step up!
I’m glad that RT Diorama has branched out with these as I’ve been pining for them! Treemendous!
Groan!
Sorry to be such a sap!
The detailing looks very very good.
As an added detail bonus, looks like there are separate pine cones as well.
Leaf it alone now!
Must have been a hell to write the program?
No problem using it on a Fennek.
I was wondering when someone would start selling 3D printed trees using some form of elastic resin. Coniferous Branches [Camo Foliage] sells for 14.99 Euros on the RT-Diorama website. That works out to about a Euro a branch. The question is, can competition and/or advances in 3D printing technology drive that price down to a point where hobbyists can broadly use such things?
I am curious how much it would cost to make scale pine branches using some small plant soaked in glycerin, and how the resulting item would compare to these.
For now, these are just too expensive for me. Two boxes worth of pine branches will pay for a nice model, including shipping and sales tax. I would rather have the model. However, if the price comes down or my needs change, this sort of thing is very attractive.
Any recommendation for color? Tamiya colors prefered.
Yeah. That is the sort of product my Mom would purchase for her Christmas Village. It is the kind of product train guys will buy up in quantity. Better looking trees have broad appeal and will sell if the price is right.
