While I’m at it; here’s some M1150 action in Afghanistan. This is the US Marine’s 3rd Combat Engineer Brigade in support of 1/6 Marines clearing IEDs near route 611 in Kajaiki. Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Get some. I’m loving it.
Well? I started the building.
So far all the parts are present. Mainly the cameras and the ERA blocks for the M1150 turret.
So far, so good.
Looking good, how are the parts fitting? Started my M1A1 1991 and I’m seeing bit of flash, and it was a bear getting the multi part gun tube to line up and not look like a banana!
This is one thing I love about Ryefield Models; they’re detailed and the fit is excellent, with little flash to contend with. Ejection pin marks is inevitable, but with some Green Stuff World Green putty, it is easy to fill up. Most of the kits in my stash are RFM with Meng, Tamiya and Academy to round it all up.
I’ve got a complete plow left over from the M1150 that I built with the PSM dozer blade.
But first I have to find it.
Message me and we can work something out.
Uh oh, decisions, plow or blade!
Is a good problem to have.
I do actually. It’s the P Sprue that has been elusive.
First section of the turret superstructure is complete.
Now, we wait until the replacement parts arrive.
The M257 smoke launchers, along with three ammo bins and a Duke Antenna will attach to this plate, then there’s the commander’s cupola and .50 cal.
Hey mate - Couple of things.
1 - I have this kit’s parts in my parts bin as I screwed up the build. Not the mine plough as I threw that out but the Abrams parts I do still have if you want them. Let me know what you need and I’ll send them to you, no worries.
2 - I do have a spare track width mine plough from Dragon unopened in the box for when I thought maybe I could save the build, and you’re welcome to that as well free gratis as I’ll never build it, for sure.
Drop me a DM with your address if you want it and I’ll get it over to you, no worries.
Looking great so far. The ABV is always on my really want list … can never find a bargain though
Well Reynier you’ve got an embarrassment of riches, a multitude of mineplows, free for the asking. All from the guys here. What a fantastic group of men. Generosity and brotherhood. It’s great to see.
I completely agree the generosity of this community knows no bounds. I’m eternally grateful for those of you that stepped up to the plate to help me out with this build.
How did a man of your calibre manage that?
Hi Roly long time no speak mate. Hope you’re well!
Re the M1150 it was the third model I ever attempted after coming back to the hobby and bit off more than I could chew. The mine plough would be challenging now but back then it was a catastrophe. I made such a hash of it I decided to consign the whole thing to the parts bin.
I will go back one day and try another one as I think it’s such a cool looking thing, but that mine plough still gives me nightmares. I love RFM but cannot help but think the mine plough assembly could have been a little less….
