Looks excellent. Details really “pop”.
Allot of great work here and some good info.as well
Finally worked on the a model today ( Panzer IV H) for the first time in about 3 months. The new hobby room is really tight compared to prior one. I moved stuff around so just trying to get the building flow started again.
The Pz IV H lost a half wing nut in the move but otherwise is OK
Finding the spare half wingnut wasn’t too bad. Should have that fixed today.
Worked on the tracks, lightly scuffing inside face etc. Love Friulmodellismo hollow guide teeth:)
…fiance said Jojo would NEVER stay of the hobby desk but he actually learned very quick repeating the magic word “NO” firmly a few times.
Hey yay Wade! Get that mojo working again. Good to hear you got to do some good work. Sorry, not a cat person. Have one, we just tolerate each other.
Those tracks are looking great!
@SSGToms Matt & @Panzer_modeler Ezra, thank you - it’s a good change of pace to get something done with a model kit
Will attach tracks later tonight & fix wing nut.
They will get some additional weathering after mounted to Pz IV H & base.
Months later, finally back at the work bench today working on Dumb, the Pz IV H. Not really, much to show, really just trying to get the habit of building and posting reestablished.
Installing tracks discovered one Fruil track had two links too many and other Fruil had one link too many.
Teasing the pins for the extra links out, adjusting and reinstalling was child’s play on the first track. The second one prove quite frustrating
and required walking away for a little bit.
However, success on the first try on return
Tracks are technically still a little loose but that’s intended “artist license”.
Getting the tracks installed exhausted Kali Kat’s patience with model building for the moment. She spent most of the session in her desk drawer supervising per normal. Apparently supervising is exhausting work.
However, plan to be back in the hobby room later today
Just prompted by the addition to revisit this. I’m blown away by the Zimmerit - where is that from? Did you do it with a pyrogravure?
Thank you, for stopping by and looking @Hohenstaufen
The H has Tamiya’s sticker Zimmerit. It sticks to the model pretty well. Comes with two patterns which is pretty sweet and some extra Zimmerit sticker. Did a little fine trimming, super glue on a stray edge, and white glue to fill hair lines etc.
The J has thinned Stucco Putty & Tamiya Zimmerit tool
Great bit of salvage and a slight detour down Tiger Lane. Enjoyable thread to read through and the antics of Kali Kat.

You are absolutely right about Friul Model tracks. I am currently trying to put together their track set for their Panther D. It’s odd that I have to drill out every track. I’m not used to this level of sloppiness from them.
Bill
Returned to hobby room today and made a little progress. Finished the base & mounted the Pz IV H.
Needs a little more fiddling
but getting close to being wrapped.
I have the exact same model waiting in the Closet of Derelict Vehicles but mine has only been waiting 13 years for paint and stuff. Yours looks really nice.
@Damraska Doug, thank you for the nice comments.
It’s a lot of fun cleaning out some of these old shelf queens from the shelf of shame.
You are very welcome. There are a lot of different painting styles out there and I find the one you chose genuinely appealing. The zimmerit also looks very good and I am impressed with your efforts to correct past mistakes.
I am not fond of the expression, ‘Shelf of Shame’. There is no shame in putting a model aside, even for many years. Interests change and life often gets in the way. However, I very much agree that finishing old projects is both fun and fulfilling. It is my sincere goal to complete every single derelict vehicle in my closet in 2022. Fingers crossed on that one.
15 months later, the Panzer IV H is back on the work bench for completion after getting side lined because i wasn’t hapoy with the tow cable. Since another project is waiting a few days on a stencil so this seemed the ideal time to return and push this one over the finish line.
Tow cable issue fixed with a TRex set of 3D printed cable ends. Attached tow cables to the front. Had to snip the loop on the tow cable open to snap over the tow pinnacle. The 3D part was flexible enough to do so and snapped back tight enough I can’t tell where it was cut!
I’m happy with the TRex cable ends.
Gina says “It’s All Good!”

Here is my 25+ year old Tamiya Panzer IV:
Back then I could not have handled the great camo job you did to yours! Kudos!
Opened up the right side turret doors and added the Verlinden resin engine set. Then lots of weathering to the road wheels and tracks and added the figure set also from Tamiya.
Michael, Gina seems like a sweet kitty with excellent tastes! Thank you for rhe kind comments. I really like your Pz IV H, has a lot of character with the engine deck hatch open and front mounted tow cable. The crew looks good as well!
Wrapped the second completion of the year, as a 9th SS Panzer Division “Hohenstaufen” Panzer IV H.
With the “practice panzer” wrapped will have to get back to the threads name sake “J” soon.
Love this. Just the right amount of weathering for me and thanks for the nod with the “Hohenstaufen” symbol. Now I’m going to spoil it all by saying the only issue is the two PzIV companies in “Hohenstaufen” were 5 and 6, 3 Kp was in the I Abteilung, the Panther battalion.
