Scene Around the Track

The KRM is now in New Haven, KY and the BGRM is in Versailles.

If you make it there you should also take in Nostalgia Station Toy & Train Museum in Versailles.

More from the Bluegrass Railroad Museum; Versailles, KY.:

Archbar Trucks

USATC lend/lease WWII boxcars

USATC lend/lease locomotive with adjustable gauge wheel sets.

Why the Museum found it necessary to deface the USATC markings I do not know.

Ah, and orange and white “Paducah Geep”. Born and raised in paducah, I see had their shops, those have become one of my favorite paint schemes. I’ve always tried to avoid being one of those people whose only interest is their hometown railroad, but the Illinois Central is one of my favorites. And I was orange and white I see slant icg locals are indelibly etched in my mind. I still prefer their green diamond emblem.

What train and where is it?

Looks like it might say Branson Scenic Railway???

Indeed. Complete with an excellent prime rib dinner.

RJ Corman runs a dinner train just South of Lexington, Kentucky in case you are ever down this way.

My wife is looking for the next train ride. I’ll have her look into it.
I think we’ll probably do Eureka Springs next as there’s an old aircraft drop tank there that I want to buy and use as a sidecar. I didn’t have room for it last time we went.

Not exactly a track side photo but would make a nice structure on a layout nonethess. Less than a mile from Fantastic Caverns near Springfield, MO.

Years ago I bought a Craftsman kit - well, maybe a semi-craftsman kit - called The Old Barn, designed by - I can’t remember the guy’s name - but apparently he’s a big shot in scratchbuilding at the time. You can build the barn either whole or in a state of collapse.

Not this?
(Ignore the thumbnail and description in blue)

These are 1:56th scale but might be usable with U.S. “O” scale:

Tom, I really like the way that those look. None of those are the barn that I’m thinking of. Last week we completed our move from the house to our “final resting place” and I saw the kit in a box. I don’t remember the company that put it out, I bought it off eBay and it is supposed to be a limited edition of a structure scratch -built by somebody acclaimed for scratch building.

I thought I’d have quick look on the net to see if I could see it, but was overwhelmed by the sheer number of Barns out there. It was nice to find there were 1:25th scale builds for automotive “Barn Finds”…

Cheers,

M

I could flood this thread with photos of old barns for reference.
