Very cool kit. I have build it a couple of times and it is a beauty.
Nice idea with the Japanese markings.
Looking forward to see more

Calling the Outland TIE fighter finished.
Nice quick easy build, although a snap together kit, it did need some sanding and trimming on a few areas. Also glued everything together as a failsafe.
Thought I’d do a slightly different colour finish, … Calling it my Sith Finish…
And the apocalypse land rover to show some scale…
Atta boy John! Finally a simple OOB build that stayed simple and OOB! That’s a first for you! Very sharp looking TIE!
Ha, cheers Matt… It was nice not to worry about adding loads of extras or scratch building …
Black panels were AK black 6RP, Revell Aqua Italian Red, and I highlighted certain areas with a dry brush of Vallejo Oily Steel… Stand was just Matt black primer from a can.
Nice one, Johnny! Definitely an alternative scheme
Nice! Looks very Sithish!

Base coat of primer is on the AT-ST. Keep it straight OOB, with the addition of a mounted Type 97 LMG from a tamiya chi ha kit. Despite the scale being a bit off, I thought it would look neat and put it on
Next up is the base brown for the camo
In my opinion, science fiction models have one drawback: low detail. At first I wanted to build it “as is” out of the box, but I couldn’t.
I had to add handrails, gratings, and corrugated flooring.
I made plugs for symmetrical but unused holes: I cast parts from the same set from resin
Well, I finally settled on doing an Eagle. I was going to do another Trek ship but I just did a few recently and I am finishing up a Star Wars build so that was no option either.
Haven’t built an Eagle since the kits first came out so there’s the motivation. The box seems to weigh more than I recall. Maybe it’s because I’m older.
I have to clear out a couple of projects before I seriously build but I may start cleaning parts during test proctoring next week, as I just have to monitor my students while they take their exams which prevents me from doing work so my co-teacher grades papers and stuff while I watch the kids. While staring at my monitor (we are virtual) and clicking through the zoom gallery I clip kit parts while looking at all the kids’ ceiling fans, windows with sunlight pouring through, posters on walls in what are obviously bedrooms, the tops of heads, family members doing chores and talking in the background, and occasionally the face of a student.
That’s REAL multi-tasking, modelling while trying to become a proctologist…
Cheers,
M
Johnny, the Sith TIE fighter looks awesome! Nice work.
Thanks Zon… Appreciated
Done with the airbrushing portion of the AT-ST. This was… incredibly frustrating, to say the least. Seemed every step of the way little problems kept popping up. But I am putting the airbrush away for this guy, and now we’re moving into touch ups and details via hand brush
Very nicely done…The ATSTs do look good in a cam scheme
That looks excellent! Just awesome. Coolness factor - 10. I have one of these in the stash. I wish I had thought of this paint scheme for it. This is just incredibly slick. Now if I do it it will just be a cheap floozy copy so mine will be grey.
Ahh nonsense, if anything yours would be the improved cleaner version. I really struggle making this camo scheme work and there’s some areas I’m less-than-pleased with. Actually, I referenced your post on painting IJA camo for visuals.
Nearly all my issues were airbrush/paint related.Couldn’t get a good consistency to avoid splattering/spider-webs/too runny. A labor of love for sure
Very nice finish John, much better than I imagined it would look, I’m sure Darth Maul is pleased.
Cajun
Not if you do it as a customised California Hot Rod/Low Rider; High-gloss Metal Flake paint with flames or pinstriping and plenty of chrome…
Cheers,
M
Looks Great, Brock. I see a few of the small issues you reference, but the final look is still super nice. Are you going for a jungle base? That could look great!
Looking forward to see more
I thought that looked like IJA camo.
