I’ve been flying low for the last month or so. Settling down for what I hope is the last time in my life. Settled down just outside the town of White Settlement in north Texas, about 40 minutes west of Ft. Worth in between Lake Worth and Weatherford.
Nice little place, near my siblings and their families. Close enough to do city things, but still far away to avoid big city problems.
setting up my house has been both good and bad. Big, 3 bedroom house for myself with more space that my old place in Sahuarita, AZ. Still enjoying that “New House” smell; weather is mild now, mid 60s and sunny. I can hear the F-35 taking off and landing from nearby JNRB Ft Worth/Lockheed-Martin plant. See a lot of C-130s flying by as well.
most of my kits survived the long journey with the usual small bits breaking here and there, nothing a bottle of Tamiya Quick Drying Cement didn’t fix.
The model stash is secured and ready for future projects.
spent the last couple weeks dealing with move issues, like a broken TV and damaged coffee table, but nothing too crazy. Getting new furniture and stocking up on groceries , plus the joys to changing stuff around the house to suit my needs.
I’m just happy to be closer to family. They’re the only reason I move out of Arizona with only a handful of years left before I retire from CBP.
well? I’ll be heading to my new assignment on Monday, see where I land and get into my new groove. I look forward to a fresh start in Texas

Congrats Reynier. New place looks great. And most importantly, your kits and stash survived the move!

You moved to Landman country
Congrats on the new home! I do like the look of those display shelves. And it looks like you have plenty of room to expand your collection. Always a consideration. How much longer do you have left with CBP? Man I just remember that my last few years on the job could not pass quickly enough…

@ Reynier (SableLiger),
Wow! Sounds and even looks like a carbon copy of my move to San Antonio from Colorado just last year. Welcome to Texas, neighbor!

At the very least? Three more years. Might stick around longer if I like my new gig. New house equals bigger mortgage, so I’ll have to stick around a while. But the change from land border to airport will do me good (I hope
).

Love the Legos, I just recently acquired about 45 vintage sets from the mid to late 90’s. Waiting for some parts to arrive to get them complete then going to hopefully sell them off. Most of this was in a big tub, loose, and I had to figure it all out.

Nice.
As Dom Torreto says in F&F, “You don’t turn your back on family.” and “It’s about family.”

Nice house! I love me some wide driveway. Lawn looks to be in good shape, always a plus.

Yeah. Still needs more roots though. My brother’s an expert on grass care. He’ll help me out once spring comes. His is a deep green while everyone else around him still has the winter burn.

Yesterday was 81°F and it was 18°F just the other week here in San Antonio! With the freeze warnings over for now, I was able to turn the water on for my brother’s (also the expert) three new trees which he had planted last spring. … This lawn stuff is all new to me again.
And I really do miss shoveling snow.

I no jay came from the desert southwest, so seeing green again after more than a decade of rocks sand and dirt is a new feeling.
I’ll be doing some yard work soon to enhance the look of my front yard. But for now, I’m working on the inside of the house; lighting, ceiling fans and curtains. Plus arranging the hobby some more.

Congratulations on a new house, Reynier! Looks so nice.
At the same time, let all the maintenance come~! “You don’t own the house. The house owns you.”

Boon out of the loop for a bit. Settling down in my new place. Getting the hang f my new job, you know?
but I haven’t forgotten about the hobby and just received my latest additions to the stash.
Been wanting to add these to my collection and finally did it.
One is the RFM Sd.Kfz. 234/2 Puma with the 3D printed tires…
And the Vietnam War era version of the M551 Sheridan Light Tank.
ooh! I’m going to have so much fun putting these two together.
