Israel used just about every known Sherman variation known to man. Mix in cannibalization of wrecks/burned out hulks or destroyed vehicles to the point that parts are scavenged off the ‘carcass’: you’ve got reconstructive builds of the likes never seen before. Just about any Sherman modeled representing the IDF will be ‘correct’. Having dozens of books of the IDF with the Sherman as the main feature, photos bear out numerous modifications that American used Shermans never used. Having a bit of a Sherman parts box, I’ll close my eyes, blindly pick a photo of an IDF Sherman, and I’ll have parts to build it. IDF kit/parts bashing at it’s extreme! That is what makes a Sherman in the IDF corral so appealing!
Oh yea, do we have to wait for the campaign start date, or can we build now??
I know what you mean, getting kits out to look at always leads me to want to get going. But we really should wait for the start date.

@michaelsatin ever considered building a Blue SLA M50?
ohh cool!!!
Very interesting, but nope. IDF, through and through.

I am on for this one! Might go old school with the venerable Matchbox kit.
Champagne is actually an early production M4A3 76mm, and was one of the first ones issued in August 1944. It saw combat during the liberation of Paris helping to knock out a Panther in Place de la Concord.
If you look at the gun tube, it doesn’t have the muzzle cap over a threaded bore, but is instead an early 76mm gun without that feature.
I’m going to say a tentative yes. I’ve got a few M-4’s I do need to, just not sure what else I’m going to have on. And I never do seem to finish any big scale armour!
I have a few Sherman kits which features the 76mm without threaded barrel or barrel with a thread protector or with a muzzle brake. Plenty of photos show all features in the IDF stable. Either would be a quicker build than the Chilean version I’ve been contemplating. Decisions, decisions, decisions!
Oh just build them all…
Decision made. I’m going to do the Firefly VC. Rest assured I will be doing this in some proper markings, probably 7th Armoured.
Only reason I have this is because I found it a few years ago sitting on it’s own amongst a load of pokemon stuff in the toy aisle in a discount store. How they came to have it I don’t know. But I knew that the plastic was the Asuka kit and it cost me less than half of what an original boxing was going for. So, I snapped it up!
Have no idea what the cartoon, game, comic is. Have never been much of a fan of the Japanese cartoons, I find it all a bit strange.
That’s a great find!
It was. I don’t know if it’s worth anything to people who collect this stuff, but I’m building it. I’ll make the included decals available to anyone who wants them.
That made for a fun history lesson. A Chilean Repotenciado would make a very worthy addition to the M4 tank collection.
