Yes, the suspension was a challenge, but the tracks even more so!
I am clicking them together and then add the guideteeth. Which do not fit properly by the way. There is a significant seam running along them.
I think I will hunt for some rubber tracks instead.
Start doing 1/72 scale tanks. The worst you’ll have link & length tracks, or rubber ones. And then you have the resin 3d printed after market track which when heated go around the sprocket or idler wheel.
I glued them in the wrong place on about three quarters of the links, is what I was getting at
The Trumpeter T66 track set is pretty good. The teeth are moulded on, so not truly hollow, but you can hardly see that, and they’re workable but easy to assemble.
I tried to use Tamiya’s rattle can TS-46 on the lower hull but made a mess of it. Probably didn’t shake it enough and held it too close as some of the paint on the model was lumpy. Also, it was windy. I’ll try again on a calmer day.
Added water cans and tools to the upper hull.
The engine crank is there (not glued) but hidden by the rear stowage rack. I will probably leave it off.
And, as you can see, I forgot to drill holes in the back plate for the Infantry phone and a gas can. I managed to drill the innermost hole for both, so I will cut off one pin and adjust alignment manually.
Those are looking great Bert … lovely stowage and finishing on both
That’s what we like to see…IDF builds!!
Thought I was seeing views fron a Museum backshop. Did not realize these were models. WOW!
Thanks everyone, glad you like my whattheycouldhavelookedlike Priests… wondering about getting one more and doing that one the way you see them in actual pictures…
Turret details and gun barrel added to M51.
nice job !!
Nice job on fixing the tracks!
I am calling my 1/72 scale ESCI Sherman done. It is going to be in a diorama stuck in mud with engine problems and/combat damage. Therefore I left the hatches for the engine lose along with some stowage.
It is a very nice kit with nice details incl. the basic engine. Especially considering the kit is only 1/72 scale and 50ish years old.
It is a pleasure to be part of the campaign and I am looking forward to follow all the great builds here.
Quite impressive for such a tiny tank.
As my RC desert Sherman was stalking the cat , I remembered there was a ‘stealth mode’ that was used . . .
