Shunsaku Tamiya tribute campaign

You could enter one of them in the torpedo campaign….

Had thought about, already doing a Lynx for that.

I’ll probably just do both of these here. I’ve got a set of Eduard pre-painted IJN crew figures somewhere I might add.

Great look, Bert. Super nice weathering without being overdone.

Congrats on finishing

Very nicely finished. One technical critique is that the lens on the AN/TAS-4 Thermal sight should be a silver mirror finish.

Otherwise everything else looks perfect!

Thanks, I will fix that :+1:

Going to do another Tamiya kit…. As we’re off to our campsite from tomorrow, I’ve packed a bag with goodies…

And I shall make this kit:

Bert,

That travel case is a pretty slick idea. A friend of a friend is asking where you got that. Camera case? (and of course, I see where you got it now that I scrolled down some :face_with_peeking_eye: )

Do you have bubble wrap or something similar to protect the assembled parts?

Thanks, I use just a few plastic containers filled with crunched up paper….

Amazon in the US has them from around $30-35.

A cool set for travelling.

My life wouldn’t be worth living if I took something similar on holiday!

Made a start on the I-16 today. Got the hull cleaned up and conning tower assembled.

Going to get a small case on order to put it in and still hunting for those crew figures. The idea is to display it surfaced and the crew prepping the midget sub for launch. I found a build online of the Aoshima 1/350 kit that has the sub mounted on a cradle on the rear deck. Should be easy to make up from some U-channel plastic.

That’s looking very good. Those Mediterranean theater markings are always fun to see.
