Skis, skids, and floats

Tighten, not lighten. It started to unwind itself a bit but I know what I needed to have done for that. I was not able to get the materials I’ve seen others use and tried to improvise with what I could find. I only have a Hobby Lobby near me and they were no help.

Oops, sorry. Must have misread it :joy:
I don’t know what material you used for the bumper but you might try to get rid of the fuss…

I was planning on taking care of that when I put a final sealing coat on it. The material is just cotton thread like you would use to truss up a chicken or tie a small package with.

Hm, a lighter won’t be of any use, then…

Well I survived my first hurricane, no power for the last three days so a couple things yet to do but I’m calling it finished. The decals wanted to disintegrate so they silvered and look like hell. Anyway . . .

I have to say everyone’s models look fantastic! Have we decided on an award medal yet?
Great job everybody.

Mmmmm. An award metal. Good question.

the silvering of your decals doesn’t come through on the photos…

I think your Arado looks awesome Erwin, the folded wing and raised cowl are a special touch, very nice job!

So what did you think? My first that I recall was Camille in 1969. My mother and I drove along the coast to look at the aftermath. Seeing boats wedged up among houses and roofless stores made an impact on my young mind.

I was 11 yrs old in '69 living in Jackson, MS. Camille was a big deal back then. Helene, even though the forecasters had been warning us all week it was coming most people didn’t give it the attention it deserved, she was a bear! My dumb ass buried my truck up to the axles in a drainage ditch trying to get around a downed tree, been working in the yard for two days picking up and burning limbs, no power and meat in the freezer is starting thaw. Sixty MPH winds are no joke, all of central Carolinas is down. Lot of trees in folks houses. Bad scene.

Thanks Terry! Whenever possible, I try to show one side fully closed up so the lines of the kite can be seen and one side open as much as possible to show its innards…
Your plane looks great too! The silvering indeed does not show and the disintegration only can be told on he starboard tail…

I think the bumpers turned out pretty darn good! Yes I might try stainning those bumper ropes with some brushed on strong coffee to darken them a bit. Also maybe adding some modulation to all that fresh German gray with some dust colored pigments and maybe a little mud and rust pigments to the tracks and road wheels but to each his/her own.

I actually did stain the originally white cord bit it didn’t turn out as dark as I hoped. I am at a point I could add staining using a dropper to randomly apply some darker shades and get a more authentic look. We had a hurricane come through over the weekend so I haven’t had much bench time since last week.

I haven’t decided on what direction to take my base so I haven’t done any dust or such yet as the terrain will determine the shades I use.

In another discussion, I saw you comment that you still need a medal for this campaign. If you like, I can create something for your approval.

If that is the case, is there a particular vehicle you want in the center of the medal? If you are not sure, I can use something ubiquitous like a Cessna 172 with floats.
