Started this one yesterday.
I will add a Quinta Studios Cockpit set and some masks for the canopy.
Still don’t know which scheme I will pick.
I have the 81c on my to-do shelf for this year.
How has the build been so far?
The instructions are not easy to follow for the cockpit and engine, they are quite confusing.
Despite that everything went smoothly closing the fuselage, little putty here and there but nothing difficult.
If you can get a 3D decal set it will improve a lot the cockpit and office details
( I have a 2nd set I bought by mistake , let me know if you want it )
The plastic is a little hard , like the early 2000’s Dragon not like the smooth Trumpeter you have nowadays.
Hi Nito
I have an IAR-80A from Azur in my stash. Never tried this brand before. It was in the running to land on my table along with the Westland Lynx ( here.), but the latter arrived first!
I’ll follow your build with pleasure and interest, I’m sure I’ll get some interesting insights from your work.

According to Scalemates, it’s the same base kit.
Special Hobby added a few items in Resin for extra detailing.
It looks like a good, clean job is coming along.
Well done, Nito, I look forward to seeing it finished.

Thanks Dan !!
The engine cover will be a sort of cut away, I want to leave the engine visible… but mostly because the 2 cover parts don’t fit well with the engine inside.
I must have made some mistake along the way, the engine is too big to fit.
I really like the design and looks of this Aircraft, but being a limited run kit it’s not always easy like a Tamyia kit specially in my clumsy hands..
Here’s today’s work, I still need more masking and a lot of work ahead…
It could be, but it also might not be. I encountered the same problem while building my P-47 and my Macchi MC202. In both cases, I don’t think I made any mistakes. Yet, the engines seemed too big, and I had to work hard, filing here and there where I could without destroying everything, to close the fuselage. I wonder why I didn’t encounter this problem with the Mosquito…but, as we know, my Mosquito was from Tamiya. I think that says it all!
Keep going on . I’m sure it will be a great model!
