These KP/SMER kits are quite challenging, at least for my skill level.
But I’m getting there…it takes some time.. Currently working on the wheel bay doors and wheels

As I say, nice work; I hope to amass - God knows when - a similar collection of those Cold War Soviet/Warsaw Pact aircraft but in 1/72, from back in the day. I haven’t gotten very far and even my Mig 17 project has stalled, but then, my main modelling thrust is 1/35 armour. But just the NATO reporting names take me back to those interminable exercises when, over the Div or Brigade radio net one would hear just such names notionally attacking this or attacking that. All very evocative, and of course, even though I’d put the hobby on hold for the duration of my career, due to its sheer fragility, the kits of say, Fitters and Fishpots just didn’t exist. A Matchbox or Airfix Mig 21 if you were lucky!

At 1/72, the whole range of Fitters is available from Modelsvit.
Fishpots…unfortunately, I think only A-Model kits, which are a pain to build.
My main focus are indeed the 1/35th armour, but I also love aircraft..that doesn’t help my stash

It’s only fairly recently that I decided to tackle 1/72 aircraft; mainly as I wanted to revisit those I knew as a kid, but hopefully finish them to a better standard, but I decided that I would not attend to poor seams/fit. rivets or anything like that, just enjoy the memories but finish them a little better; and you know what? It’s been great fun! I tend to do it when I’ve gotten bogged down in 1/35 or have too many projects on the go at once. The project means I embrace WW2 as well as Cold War. I found it very relaxing to be able to go off at such a tangents; there’s an ancient Airfix Jaguar in primer as I speak, or rather, write.

You’re going for the French or British version of the Jaguar ?
For these Cold War Sukhoi’s, Modelsvit kits are nice but the Yak’s from A-Model require a lot of care… most of the times it’s frustrating.
At 1/48th, the Fishpots from Trumpeter are quite good, few parts, not over overengineered, and they look the part.
This is the original Airfix kit - no laser nose! I actually purchased it in Germany waaaay back in 1971, on my first posting; gazed at it lovingly; I had no tools, paints or anything, but I just couldn’t resist having a kit of a model long heralded by the aviation press, and just so Airfix - that crisp, grey plastic! I then took stock of my situation: sharing a barrack room with 3 others, a locker and a bedside table (and bed of course), and amidst barrack-room life - of which random violence played no small part - there was just no way I was ever, ever going to be able to build it. With great reluctance, I cast it into the bin, my 17-year-old eyes watering.
Fifty-five years later it’s nearly completed, seam lines, punch-marks the lot, and I don’t care! It will be finished as per the instructions though I’m a bit adrift on whether or not the RAF would have had it in gloss or matt; it will be finished with 4 x AS 30 missiles, which Airfix provided with this initial version, and they’ll be in blue and white. I’ve added (fictional) details to the pilot and cockpit, and overall, it’s been great fun.

Quite nice! I’m not used to seeing a Soviet Fitter A in camo, mostly in NMF, so this is a double treat.

This BKL version had a few schemes, mostly 3 tone camo,and one Polish NMF.
Since I already did a Polish version with the BM, I went for the camo on this one.
The BMK will be an Indian version I think.
