Takom AMX-13 w/ Chaffee Turret

So the piece I’m pointing to is the rear view mirror? Do I have it on backwards? Thanks Olivier

I got the decals on this thing but forgot to put a gloss coat on those areas before hand. I never gloss the whole model, just the decal areas. The decals went in fine, some were thicker than others especially the serial numbers. Also, the name LAMARK seemed to be thick. After applying them, I realized the carrier film was very prominent. So I got lazy and instead of getting the airbrush out, I tried brushing on some gloss coat. I did this a couple of times. It was a very clumsy job by me- I left a big glob of gloss coat on the side of the turret. The next day I figured I could spray another coat of gloss on with the airbrush. No good. So I took the advice of a few of the members here and used 400 and 600 grit sand paper to sand away the film on the edges of the decal and the excess gloss coat. Worked great! So thank you guys for the tip. It didn’t come perfect, as you can see some scratch marks above the decal, but its much improved. I did the same thing on the other side of the turret as well.

Nice save Richard!

I hate to tell this but the name Lamarck is misspelled by the manufacturer. A C is missing before the K.

I guess it’s too late to fix it.

Nice job Richard.

Ugh thank you Olivier! I had no idea, guess I should have done more research. Oh well, I can’t change it at this point.

It was Takom’s job to do so. The fault is theirs.

I have another question which I forgot to ask during the building of this model:

Is part E-18 a horn or some kind of infra red light? It has a smooth face on it but I thought it was a horn and added the front part with the holes from the spares box. There is no other part in the kit that goes onto it.

Thanks Matt!

I would assume that E18 is a siren, based on its shape. Also, AFAIK, all AMXs with infrared had twin headlights on each side.

Jakko is right. E18 is a siren and the flat part should have holes in it.

Here is the lower hill with an enamel wash applied. I still have some detail painting to do as well but getting there.

Turret got a wash today, now to dry brush the hull

I did one pass of dry brushing on the turret also with oils. I still have to add some dust with pigments and might go back with some washes to tone down the areas that are too light.
