Takom Bringing New M51

I just saw on Scalemates that Takom has a M51 Alef and a M4A1 76w vvss late coming out. Hoping they do more versions and also some M50s

I already have a M51. But the new late production M4A1 76mm looks tempting.

Ya I have 4. :joy::joy: 2 Tamiya and 2 Dragon Premium. There is also the Academy kit which places a distant 3rd IMO. Both kits are okay but both also have faults. Looking at the renderings or test shots, which ever they are, this looks like it will be a better kit all around. I know that the tracks will be better as both Tamiya and dragons tracks are “rubber band” style. Both are well done, I just prefer the look of indy or link and length tracks.

And I can always build another M51 :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Already built the Tamiya M51, but a more accurate M4A1 is always a plus on my work bench.

Yup. I built the Academy M51 a couple of years ago. Not the best kit of the subject out there, but no dog either

Ah dammit, just a few weeks after I finish my own M-51…
I wonder if this one will be better than Tamiya. If so, I might have to tearfully part with my Tamiya M-51 and replace it… That’s never a fun thing to do.

Or build both. One can never have to many Shermans :tada:

I had an Academy kit too and was fairly happy with everything but the turret. It’s shape is just a bit off and the muzzle brake which is an obvious focal point for M51s isn’t correct. I ended up using the hull/running gear to make an M1 Super Sherman with a resin turret I had.

That said you did an excellent job on yours. Definitely looks the part :+1::+1:

I don’t really have desire no space for duplicates (aside from one exception)

I don’t think of them as duplicates. I have a list of middle east subjects I would like to model at some point (providing I live to be 175 years of age :face_with_hand_over_mouth:) and I have about 15 different versions of Sherman on it, and that’s not even including SPGs. At present I already have done 2 different M50s, M1 Super Sherman (HVSS), M1 Sherman (VVSS) and have in progress Meir and Tamar (first Shermans in IDF service) and an Egyptian M4A4(A2) from 1956. Now that I think on it I could probably finish my modeling career just doing mid east Shermans :joy:

Supper Sherman? Must be an easy build, I mean Eduard had Weekend Editions of their aircraft models. I presume it isn’t armed with a Saturday Night Special

I’ll most likely add one to the stash, together with the others mentioned in this topic.

Speaking of supper …
stomach is rumbling …
time to start cooking some food …

I love supper shermans.

Really sad part is that they Israelis just call them Shermans. The only one they called a Super Sherman was HVSS 76mm tanks.

Went M1 Sherman, M1 Super Sherman, M50 Sherman and M51 Sherman.

Very good to see a new M50 coming out regardless of what it’s called. Will definitely supplement my current stash of MP Model M50s

Now I’m getting hungry :joy:

Actually … M-1 Sherman, M-1 Super Sherman, M-50 Sherman and M-51 Sherman.

(When I read the title of this thread, I thought Takom were going to release an M51 armored recovery vehicle. Turns out it’s about the M-51 Sherman.)

Now THAT would have been nice!
