Maybe they’ll do a CASSPIR? Think of the diorama possibilities.
That’s an excellent job on that kit Olivier! Great build , great finish !
SADF didn’t have AMLs they used the Eland 60 & 90.
Nice one. It would be great in plastic too.
Olivier
Ok, so what has the Eland evolved from,
Just want the Ratel 90/ 20mm in plastic.
Yes the Elands derived from the AMLs however the whole rear is different and it would require a lot of scratchbuild job to turn the AML into a decent Eland.
I did hope Takom would have continued on this path when they released the both AMLs.
Olivier
will have to give it a go then, not now 2021 need the get one first.
I still hold out hope AFV Club will release an Olifant Mk1A but sadly the wait continues.
We should be so lucky. I would say the market isn’t there but then I would have said the same about the Rooikat so maybe we will be in luck.
Yes they did. 100 AML’s plus enough components to build 800 more were purchased by SA from Panhard (France) in 1961. Licence to build other AML components locally was obtained in 64/65.
Numerous upgrades were needed following trials and service including steering, brakes, clutch etc (completely new motor in the Mk 5).
These subsequent upgrades were officially designated Eland.
By 67 the vehicles were 2/3 local origin parts.
It looks great.
Someone has been reading their Haynes manual,
just received my one.
