Tamiya business decisions

There are wealthy gentlemen in England who drive four-horse passenger-coaches twenty or thirty miles on a daily line, in the summer, because the privilege costs them considerable money; but if they were offered wages for the service, that would turn it into work and then they would resign.

Did Tamiya pay those test builders? If I owned a business I would not have “volunteers” doing essential tasks for the business, because volunteers don’t think making money for somebody else is essential to them.

I’m just quoting the man. But in answer to your question, I don’t know if they get paid or not. I know there are unpaid internships all over. I even asked a few companies if they’d be interested in having my daughter intern in China so she could sharpen her Mandarin, but she ended up taking a (well) paid internship for the city.
The US Department of Labor has its own criteria for what constitutes an unpaid internship. I know they have them in Japan as a friend of mine did one.
I’m sure China quite different ideas about how things are done, but we never got that far into. But I could imagine having her intern there would have been an eye opening experience for her.
I do know that very recently hiring Americans was quite in vogue in China.

Me recieving my order from Starbucks server, “Thank you.”
Starbucks server, “No problem.”
Me, “Good to know.”
Starbucks server looking somewhat confused.

Or…
Phone company rep, “May I have your phone number please?”
Me, “its xxx-xxx-xxxx.”
Phone Rep, “Perfect.”
Me, “I studied.”

My daughter gets so embarrased when I respond like that when she’s with me. Not a chance I’ll stop.
Having far too much fun with it.

Go Tamiya.

You’d have fun over here - standard response from phone reps when receiving answers to questions is “Too easy”. I was reading off relevant items on a list and providing a brief explanation, each time rep’s response was “Too easy”. After the tenth time I said “Is E.C. your supervisor?”

I went to watch my daughter practice a band routine at her university last year. I yelled “More cowbell!”

Cowbell, speaking of.
I saw a YT-video where some guys pranked their friend by hanging a cowbell near the rear axle of his car. It would clang’n’bang when he hit bumps or braked …

Not so much grammar but way of speaking. Two of my pet peeves.

Uptalking-especially among younger people into their 40’s. Some people always make a regular statement sound like a question.

And Word Frying.

If you havent noticed or know what they are, look em up

Pretty annoying.

Glottal fry. My wife is an SLP. She can do it really well too. In jest of course.

Cowbells are very under appreciated.
Mississippi Queen and Honky Tonk Woman would not be the songs they are today without it.

Lol classic !

Speaking as a lawyer, we avoid Latin, it has no place in modern society, except for a handful of well established phrases that have passed into common parlance and avoid long-winded explanations of legal concepts. Modern laws barely ever include Laton. Since the late 90s there has been a real push in the UK to use plain English in legal documents.

The thing we forget is that Tamiya, like most modeling companies, sells to distributors (their customers), not to you or me. Distributors you would think would want to know what we want. No, they sell to retailers not to you or me. Tamiya has too many degrees of separation to be substantially influenced by hobbyist.

Good grief. This vocal fry among primarily women…

Affecting a Kim Kardashian voice is a sure-fire way to sound air-headed, foolish and shallow.

Tried to watch a serious “whistleblower” video a few days ago and only made it about one minute in before I had to quit watching.

The young woman spoke near constantly in vocal fry. There is no way I could possibly take anything seriously that she said. I have to conclude she is just another TikTok wannabe influencer seeking attention and making up stories.

Today, saw an excerpt from CNN I think it was, and the woman spoke with vocal fry. Are they coached to speak in this manner? If so, why???

WORSE than nails on a chalkboard.
