Tamiya Opel Blitz diorama

Still work to be done as I have some N African fauna on order. Till then finish painting, weathering, etc.

This was first time using ChatGPT for getting feedback … But a human touch would be appreciated

I like it.

It looks very good already! Just one tiny inaccuracy (that would’nt matter at all in the desert, but with a German truck in an area with road traffic): That little triangle on the cab roof signaled “trailer in tow” and had to be folded down on a truck w/o trailer.

It did not get glued so I’ll put it in the right position. Thanks a lot.

Nice work. It’s a fun kit to build and build a couple. This is my most recent

Hi Gabriel. That’s a nice build! Lots of really nicely done stowage.

If I may suggest two things; I think the stowage in particular but also the vehicle needs some dust applied. The ground work is really nice but looks dry and dusty which means anything in that area is going to have at least a light layer of dust even if it was under a tarpaulin. I see you’ve applied a bit of dust on the windows and the colour modulation also helps to make it look weathered, but it may need a touch more dust.

Second thing is the helmet hanging on the door. Was that just undercoated? It looks like it may need some colour.

Apart from those I think the overall painting and build are really nicely done. Nice pose on the figure s as me really good ground work! Good job!

Ps: ask the forum before ChatGPT! We’ve got your back with honest, human feedback!

Well, that is the real color grey green. It might have been double coated.

It is no finished, I will add dust . To be perfectly honest I was needing my dose of validation…

Looks like the windows have been masked-off for painting. Guessing the diorama is still a WIP. :construction:
Looking good so far.

I like it, and agree that some dust is needed. The Ia of the DAK in his book spoke to smearing oil in glass and coating that with dirt except for a vision slit. I would also like to see DAK symbols on the fenders and unit tactical markings as the cargo seems be ammo. Doors often had lettering for max loads and tire pressures rather than a Balken Cross. I also think that most cargo columns for the DAK had tarps over the loads to disguise the contents. Just things to think about.

No worries. I wasn’t sure about the helmet colour as sometimes the lighting in photos distorts the colours a bit.

I’m glad you’re finding the feedback useful. One of the great things about this forum, in my opinion, is there is not undeserved praise or only bad comments on someone’s work. There’s always some positive comments as well as there being something to work on or improve. I like that as I find being given a ‘well done’ but saying nothing further is a bit empty. There’s always room for improvement, no matter how experienced you are.

Yeah, usually my builds receive not much interactions. while I receive over 50 likes in a topic there are very few comments.
I know have problems in explaining what I have and probably not interact enough with other people’s builds.
So I have ask gpt. I found his replies quick and many times useful. He can also generate a diorama plan for and even draw a sketch for dioramas provide you tell him what kits you will use. Even create a possible color picture of your dio.
But yeah, human interaction is very important, but AI could be a useful tool

Just to clarify things a bit.
The Tamiya truck was just painted with Ral 8000 from Vallejo, over a solid dunkle grau from Real colors. It has no weathering on it and it is still masked. It was not detail painted or varnished.
It is mostly Oob but added most of the pieces from the FC Modeltrend set, which not good but it least on the hood I have the famous logo. Also scratch built the jack holder.

The diorama is made on two Tamiya sheets and the sand is also Tamiya. The truck load is Mr modellbau, and the various tarps are from a few sets left in the drawer.
The figure is the one from Tamiya’s kubelwagen but the head is from panzerart ( actually it is the left over head from Man with chameleon and Panzer 3 (from Academy) ).
I also plan to add a couple of suricates in the shrewbary in front of truck, a small lizard on the roof and resting fennek under the truck. But I am still waiting for the mantis set.

After all is painted will start dusting and further weatering

Just to not forget, sandbags were cast from plastic goo

Thanks for clarifying this.

If I may add, those details you’ve just included (materials and process etc…) are really interesting. Maybe next time add those details up front to the photo montage in the initial post. We’re all interested in how your project ended up but we’re also interested in how it got there, including what materials you used. Suggestion only for your consideration.

Also you can ask for input as the build progresses. If you’re not confident doing so in the public forums, you can always message someone directly as long as they’re ok with that. For what it’s worth I’m comfortable with any forum members getting in touch directly.

Well, I started the truck in 2018, but left it as I was not into it due some personal issue. Yes, i could have taken pictures when I restarted, ohh well it is what is

Added the final bits to the diorama: two 3d printed fennecs, some more helmets and thermos’. Left out the suricates as they are native to southern Africa and ChatGpt was hallucinating when saying their inclusion is a good idea.
