I am wanting to recreate this image.
Does anybody have any more info on it
Old Thai T-55 tanks dumped in the ocean to make artificial reefs and/or diving attractions
Some general background reading:
EDIT: See below about the type designation of these old tanks
It is a T54, but hard to pick from that angle Robin , otherwise as Robin said.
Cheers
Mike
To be quite honest: I didn’t bother trying to identify the correct version, I just went with what the linked articles said
Could it be a Chinese made copy, Type 59 or 69?

According to one caption I’ve found, these are Type 69-II’s…

Yes, it is definitely a Type 69 as it has the extended rear hull plate to accommodate the fan. And the photos also appear on the China Defense Blog where they are identified as Type 69s
The pictures with all the water splashing up will make a nicer scene…
The Jordanians dumped a bunch of their decommissioned hardware for the same purpose off the coast of Aqaba:
@Frenchy . those are super good image’s and exactly what I needed .
Thank you.
My pleasure Chris ! Good luck

My apologies to Robin, I only went off the dome ventilator🤦‍♂️
Now is it just me or do those Type 69’s have what looks like Patton Type Tracks on them, doesn’t look like copies of OMSH or RMSH??
Mike
Here’s another Thai Type 69-II fitted with these tracks (upgraded with a 105mm gun) :
Just found more views of the tanks before their final plunge…
H.P.
Oh Henri-Paul, those are just fantastic pictures!! I am certainly liking the idea of doing the one with the 105mm, cage armour / stowage rack & funny tracks, and I am sure now with your extra pictures Chris will just “Have To” build the Whole barge with all the tanks, excavator, scrap steel & people
Mike
Absolutely no need for any apologies. I was wrong since I didn’t bother to check
OMG Please accept my sincere apologies Henri-Pierre!! It has been so long since I have visited the site on a regular basis & replied to many or any posts that I am forgetting the names of the important people & using my old man’s brain!!
Mike
No problemo Mike !
